Job summary

Elabs Infotech is seeking a Senior Chef Specialist / Chef Engineer to join our Cloud Architecture team. You will lead hands-on automation using Chef, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure across PAN India environments.

The role requires 5-12 years of experience in infrastructure automation, with strong expertise in Chef Infra, Chef Automate, and secure, scalable deployments. Immediate to 30 days notice, 2nd shift in India.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on Chef experience.
• 6+ years of experience in infrastructure automation.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and Linux environments.
• Good communication and collaboration across Development, Operations, Cloud, and Security.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Chef cookbooks and recipes.
• Automate infrastructure configuration and deployments using Chef.
• Design, implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments.
• Monitor infrastructure performance, troubleshoot and ensure high availability.

Job Summary

We are looking for a Senior Chef Specialist / Chef Engineer to join our Cloud Architecture team. The ideal candidate will have strong hands‑on experience with Chef and infrastructure automation, along with expertise in CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, configuration management, monitoring, and security.

The candidate should be a self‑starter capable of designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting automated infrastructure environments.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Automation

• Develop and maintain Chef Cookbooks and Recipes.
• Automate infrastructure configuration and application deployments using Chef.
• Maintain and troubleshoot existing Chef recipes and cookbooks.
• Manage and maintain Chef Automate running on customer cloud infrastructure.
• Implement infrastructure automation and configuration management best practices.

CI/CD

• Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated and reliable deployments.
• Integrate Chef with CI/CD tools and development workflows.
• Improve deployment efficiency and reduce manual intervention.

System Monitoring & Maintenance

• Monitor infrastructure performance, availability, and reliability.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure and automation‑related issues.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes.
• Ensure high availability and stability of customer environments.

Collaboration

• Work closely with Development, Operations, Cloud, and Security teams.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to streamline infrastructure and deployment processes.
• Support automation initiatives and continuous improvement.

Security & Compliance

• Ensure infrastructure configurations comply with organizational security standards.
• Follow infrastructure security and configuration management best practices.
• Support security, audit, and compliance requirements.

Required Skills

• Minimum 3 years of recent hands‑on experience with Chef
• 6+ years of experience in Infrastructure Automation
• Strong experience in Chef Infra / Chef Automate
• Hands‑on experience in Chef Cookbook and Recipe development
• Experience with configuration management and infrastructure automation
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines
• Good understanding of Linux/Unix environments
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
• Knowledge of infrastructure monitoring and high‑availability concepts
• Understanding of security and compliance practices
• Good communication and collaboration skills
