Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services seeks an experienced Azure Commvault Backup Engineer to manage and optimize hybrid and cloud backup infrastructure. You will ensure data resilience, disaster recovery, and seamless integration between Commvault Complete Backup & Recovery / Commvault Cloud and Microsoft Azure environments.

You will architect Commvault environments, manage Azure storage targets, and oversee backup for VMs, AKS, M365, and databases while implementing security, automation, and DR drills.

Qualifications

• 3 to 8+ years of hands-on Commvault administration experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Azure core infrastructure and services.
• Windows and Linux server knowledge.
• Scripting abilities in PowerShell, Azure CLI or Python.
• Certifications: Commvault Certified Professional/Engineer; AZ-500.

Responsibilities

• Architect, configure, and maintain enterprise Commvault environments across on‑premises and Azure.
• Configure cloud connections using Azure APIs, Entra ID, Managed Identities, and RBAC.
• Manage backup targets with Azure Blob Storage and lifecycle policies.
• Oversee backup and recovery for Azure VMs, AKS, M365, and databases.
• Design and execute DR drills using Commvault Live Sync and related tooling.
• Automate tasks with PowerShell, Python, or Bash; integrate with Azure DevOps.
• Enforce zero-trust access, encryption, and ransomware protection controls.
• Diagnose P1/P2 backup failures and perform RCA.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Azure Commvault Backup Engineer to manage, optimize, and secure our hybrid and cloud-native backup infrastructure. You will be the subject matter expert responsible for ensuring data resilience, executing disaster recovery protocols, and managing the seamless integration between Commvault Complete Backup & Recovery / Commvault Cloud and Microsoft Azure storage and compute environments. [

• Infrastructure Management: Architect, configure, and maintain enterprise Commvault environments (CommServes, MediaAgents, and clients) spanning on-premises and Azure platforms.
• Azure Integration: Configure and manage cloud connections using Azure-native APIs, Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD), Managed Identities, and RBAC permissions.
• Storage Optimization: Manage backup targets leveraging Azure Blob Storage (Hot, Cool, and Archive tiers), configuring data deduplication, compression, and lifecycle management policies.
• Workload Protection: Oversee backup and recovery operations for Azure VMs, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Microsoft 365, and databases like SQL Server, Oracle, and Cosmos DB.
• Disaster Recovery (DR): Design and execute continuous replication and DR drills using tools like Commvault Live Sync and Cleanroom Recovery to satisfy strict RPO and RTO metrics.
• Automation & DevOps: Streamline operational tasks and backup provisioning using PowerShell, Python, or Bash, integrating pipelines via Azure DevOps where applicable.
• Security & Compliance: Enforce Zero-Trust storage access, immutable/air-gapped storage configurations, encryption at rest/in transit, and isolate data from ransomware threats.
• Incident Management: Diagnose complex P1/P2 backup failures, perform data-restoration tests, and conduct root-cause analysis (RCA).

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Experience: 3 to 8+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise-level Commvault administration and storage infrastructure management.
• Cloud Expertise: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Azure core infrastructure (VMs, Networking, Storage Accounts, Resource Manager, and Security Groups).
• Backup Technologies: Mastery of Commvault tools (Command Center, CommCell Console, VM backup orchestration, and multi-subscription protection).
• Operating Systems: Solid technical knowledge of Windows and Linux server environments.
• Scripting: Proven capability to write and modify automation scripts (PowerShell, Azure CLI, or Python).
• Soft Skills: Excellent problem solving capabilities, clear communication skills, and comfort collaborating with cross-functional IT and application teams.
• Commvault Certified Professional or Commvault Certified Engineer
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500)
