Job summary

Aga Khan Rural Support Programme India (AKRSP India) invites applications for a Rural Development Officer to mobilize farmers, support FPOs, and link farmers to markets in Maharashtra and surrounding regions. The role focuses on value-chain activities and strengthens local livelihoods through hands-on coordination.

The ideal candidate has 2–4 years in rural development with strong communication in Gujarati, English and Hindi, willingness to travel, and the ability to work in a field-based team.

Qualifications

• Graduate/Postgraduate in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Rural Development, Social Work or related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in FPOs, agriculture, agribusiness, livelihoods or value-chain development.
• Good communication, farmer mobilization and coordination skills.
• Knowledge of FPO operations, commodity value chains and MS Office.
• Willingness to travel extensively in rural areas.

Responsibilities

• Mobilize farmers and increase FPO member participation.
• Support aggregation, procurement, grading, quality control and primary processing.
• Facilitate market linkages, buyer coordination and order fulfilment.
• Track local market prices and provide market intelligence.
• Coordinate logistics, dispatch and delivery of produce.
• Support FPO CEOs/BODs in business planning and day-to-day operations.
• Develop system for procurement, sales, stock, member and field records.
• Support FPO compliance, training, project implementation and MIS reporting.
• Coordinate with buyers, government agencies and other stakeholders.
• Support in other project implementation work
