Job summary

United Airlines India Knowledge Center is seeking an experienced frontend developer to build high-performance real-time middleware and cloud-based data enablement solutions for critical airline functions such as Booking, Check-in and Reservation systems.

You will work in a team of developers, shaping frontend architecture, implementing design systems, and collaborating with backend and data teams to deliver robust customer experiences across digital channels.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, MCA or equivalent work experience
• 8+ years of overall experience in design, development, documenting, testing, and debugging of software systems with React or any other Front End technologies
• 5+ years of experience working with React and deep understanding of React internals, hooks, rendering behavior, and modern patterns
• TypeScript Mastery: Strong typing discipline, generics, and scalable type design
• Modern JavaScript: Proficiency with ES6+ features and browser APIs
• HTML/CSS: Semantic HTML, accessibility (WCAG), responsive layouts
• State Management: Redux, Zustand, MobX, or similar
• Testing: Jest, React Testing Library, Vitest or equivalent
• Tooling: Vite, Webpack, Babel, ESLint, Prettier
• Git: Branching strategies and PR-driven workflows
• Problem Solving: Debug complex issues and provide maintainable solutions
• Node.js: Backend or BFFs experience
• Cloud Platforms: AWS services (S3, ECS, Lambda, CloudFront, Route 53)

Job overview and responsibilities

United Airlines’ Customer Technology Platform department partners with business and technology leaders across the company to create high performing services and real time messaging applications across key airline functionalities such as Booking, Check-in, Payment, Reservation systems and Operational Systems to help support the commercial and digital Channels of United.

As a software developer in the Data Enablement team, you will be responsible for the development of mission critical applications, while working with a team of developers. This individual will build high performing, real-time middleware solutions in the extremely critical domains of Baggage, Flight Operations, Reservation Management and Check-in. You will play a large role in building data caches and real time messaging applications, used by operational and commercial systems across the company. Additionally, as a developer, you will build these applications with a focus on delivering cloud-based solutions. The individual will use leading edge technologies and enterprise grade integration software on a daily basis.

• Version Control: Strong Git knowledge, including branching strategies and pull-request-driven workflows
• Problem Solving: Ability to debug complex issues and propose pragmatic, maintainable solutions
