Hero MotoCorp Ltd. is seeking an experienced R&D Engineer in Jaipur, India to elevate quality assurance for suspension, chassis, and related sub-systems within Design Quality.

You will drive DFMEA processes, leverage warranty data, and embed lessons learned to boost design robustness for new models. Qualifications

• B.Tech Mechanical with 8+ years in automotive part development.
• Hands-on vehicle-level testing and failure diagnosis experience.
• Strong DFMEA, GD&T, and design validation knowledge.
• Experience with cross-functional teams and supplier interactions.

Responsibilities

• Lead DFMEA discussions for new-technology components and share failure modes with suppliers to ensure design maturity.
• Bridge design, CIT, and Quality teams to ensure design robustness across the product lifecycle.
• Develop validation strategies and performance benchmarks from predictive models for high durability.
• Coordinate trials, testing, and issue resolution across cross-functional teams.

Job description

Domain expertise in Suspension ( Cushions / Forks / BFT/ Wheel brakes )
Enhance Design Failure Mode and Effects analysis (DFMEA) focus for Chassis (Sub System - Suspension)
Ability to read and interpret both 2D and 3D drawings, Understand targets relative to competition / base models and ensure (SOR) capturing & implementing these targets.
Suspension & wheel Systems: Design, manufacturing feasibility (casting/forging), and validation of wheel assemblies and interface systems.
Knowledge of Damping Systems , Fluid Dynamics , Spring Rate & Preload conditions , knowledge of Testing, Simulation, and validation thru CAE / FEA
Knowledge of CEN, ASTM, and specific industry standards to validate durability, fatigue resistance, and functional reliability.
Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) focus in Chassis components - Gaps / Layout
Involvement in new model design issues resolution and the need for deeper data analysis on warranty failures, Vehicle Integration & vehicle Evaluation & Quality checks.
Verification of LL / Past failures / DFMEA's / PTS tracking monitoring - Closure of all issues at key milestones.

A purpose driven role for you

Elevate Quality Assurance for suspension, cushion, and fork systems within the Design Quality department by playing a key role in validating these systems in new model development. Driving design robustness by embedding insights from historical market data, warranty analysis, and established failure mode best practices. Orchestrating New Product Activities for suspension vis a vis wheel brake/ Chassis system while ensuring rigorous DFM/DFA/DFS integration.

A Day in the life

1. Advanced DFMEA & Risk Management: Spearhead DFMEA discussions for innovative, new-technology components, leveraging cross-functional historical failure data and "lessons learned" to mitigate risks. Actively influence the design of proprietary parts by proactively identifying and sharing potential failure modes (FM) with suppliers to ensure design maturity.
2. Cross-Functional Design Influence: Act as a technical authority to bridge the gap between design, CIT, and Quality teams. Actively influence product robustness by driving evidence-based design changes across the Cross-Functional Team (CFT), resolving complex technical conflicts, and ensuring quality gates are met during the product development lifecycle.
3. Proactive Market & Reliability Prediction: Conduct deep-dive studies into design parameters and field performance data to anticipate potential market concerns before they arise. Formulate robust validation strategies and performance benchmarks based on these predictive models, ensuring high reliability and long-term durability in challenging real-world conditions and benchmarking models
4. Alignment of internal & external stakeholders for:
a) Design trials, Events, Feasibility studies, Simulation, Base Model issue resolution
b) Liaise jointly with teams during development/ PP1 testing
c) Assembly Trials, DFMEA & Common part issue resolution
d) Base Model issue resolution, Market Issue resolution, Warranty analysis
e) Proposals/ discussion/ costing
f) Part and process development, TFC/ Parts Trials

Academic Qualification & Experience

B.Tech Mechanical with Minimum 8 years of experience in part development in automobile industry with good Technical / Hands-on experience on vehicle level testing w.r.t Failure diagnosis wrt Failure diagnosis
