Job summary

Jacobs in Hyderabad is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Lead to drive HV design and power systems for projects up to 220 kV. You will lead a team, develop technical specs, and coordinate with clients and vendors to ensure compliant, on-time delivery.

The role requires 15 years of experience in electrical design, HV substations, and proficiency with ETAP, Dia-Lux and AutoCAD. A hybrid work model is offered with flexible arrangements.

Responsibilities

Your impact

Summary

The Candidate shall have 20+ years of working experience to support the Electrical Design team on Power System design for all Voltage levels up to 220 KV & above as per technical skills listed below. The Candidate shall support the Discipline Manager & Engineering team in achieving the project goals, complying Jacob’s project and engineering process and procedure, provides technical guidance to employees, colleagues and/or customers.

This position involves managing a team of resources and adapting to project requirements plans to meet the timelines within the stipulated budget, problem solving skills and innovative approach to different challenges as guided by policies, procedures and business plan. The offered position provides leadership, champions inclusion and diversity, drives global delivery, supports a culture of innovation applies a disciplined deployment and has accountability for the performance and results of a team within own area of specialty.

Roles and Responsibilities

Strong understanding of the Medium to High Voltage (up to 220 KV) equipment and substation design. He shall ensure that the design meets applicable industry codes, standards i.e. IEEE, IEC, NEC, IS , local codes etc, Environmental regulations & safety requirements.

He shall have working experience on voltage levels ranging from 415 V to 220 KV & above including Gas/Air Insulated Substations, Switchyard, Transformers, High Voltage & Low Voltage Panels design, interconnection requirements & protective device coordination etc. The Candidate shall be responsible for developing the electrical package including technical specifications, data sheets, drawings, Vendor document requirements, Vendor quality plans, Control schemes etc for High Voltage & low voltage Power & distribution system.

He has hands on working experience on power system modelling and simulation software such as ETAP, SKM etc for Load flow studies, short circuit stability, Dynamic Motor starting, Arc Flash study, relay coordination, system studies to optimize the system performance and safety and its report writing.

He shall have working experience on the design of SCADA, EMS and Auto Load shedding system for the Power distribution systems. He shall be able to list & design all the technical requirements for these packages

It will be responsibility of the candidate to do effective collaboration with engineering team, client & contractors, ability to communicate technical information clearly to all the stake holders is must. He shall be able to assist the personnel to oversee implementation & trouble shooting. Prepare and maintain the detail design drawings, schematics, & reports for the project & regulatory compliance. Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines within stipulated budget and timelines.
