Job summary

Featherlite in Bengaluru, India, seeks a Design & Planning Manager to lead design, planning and costing activities for the manufacturing department. You will convert design requirements into working drawings, prepare BOMs, estimates, and supervise the project manufacturing process.

You will coordinate with all departments, mentor junior staff, and ensure quality through certification programs while maintaining records and reporting to the manager on progress and challenges.

Qualifications

• Responsibilities include coordinating with all departments, providing cost estimates for materials, equipment and labour, preparing monthly reports, improving existing products, converting design information into working drawings, preparing designs, BOM and estimates, overseeing manufacturing processes, reading drawings and specifications, recommending design improvements, assisting with field and manufacturing problems, mentoring junior staff, supplier visits and quotations, maintaining project records, monitoring department activities, clarifying design queries, participating in certification programs, and reporting to the manager.

Design and Planning Manager shall be responsible for preparing and monitoring all required data for manufacturing department along with team. Also, should provide estimate of all required component and must frequently communicate between all concerned team for any clarifications or revisions.

Responsibilties

• Convert basic design information and requirements into working drawings
• Prepare designs, BOM and estimates wherever required.

• Recommend modifications for design improvements and simplification.
• Assist with field and manufacturing problems.
• Proactive and willing to take on new challenges.
• Work effectively under pressure.
• Mentor junior staff.
• To visit and analyse suppliers capabilities.
• To check and finalise suppliers quotations wherever needed.
• To Maintain records of all projects systematically.
• To monitor all the activities within the department.
• To clarify all design related queries.
• Must be part of all certification programs whichever required.
• Report to reporting manager at specified intervals.
