Job summary

Broadway is seeking a Design Lead to strategize and optimize physical store environments pan-India. You will translate brand identities into immersive spaces, handling space planning, layouts, and customer flow while collaborating with Category teams to align product knowledge with fixtures.

You will lead design reviews, coordinate with vendors, and ensure feasibility and quality across store formats, delivering high-impact, functional, and scalable retail environments.

Qualifications

• 12-15 years of experience in retail interior design, space planning, or commercial architecture.
• Proven track record designing large-format retail stores or flagship spaces.
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3ds Max/Revit, and Adobe Creative Suite.

Responsibilities

• Lead design strategy for Broadway store formats (greenfield, brownfield, retrofits).
• Create 2D/3D layouts, mood boards, and material boards reflecting a premium, new-age aesthetic.
• Coordinate with Category, VM, Marketing, IT, and Ops to integrate digital elements, signage, and lighting.

Role Summary

The Design Lead will be the creative and strategic force behind Broadway's physical spaces. You will translate brand identities into immersive retail environments by masterfully handling space planning, layout optimization, and customer flow. A critical part of this role involves collaborating closely with Category teams to gain deep product and brand knowledge, enabling you to design bespoke, highly functional fixtures that maximize visual impact and drive sales conversion.

Key Responsibilities

• Design Strategy & Space Planning
• Formulate the overarching architectural and interior design strategy for all Broadway store formats (greenfield, brownfield, and retrofits).
• Create innovative zoning, macro/micro layouts, and circulation plans that optimize the customer journey and maximize sales per square foot.
• Develop detailed 2D/3D layouts, conceptual mood boards, and material boards that reflect Broadway's premium, new-age aesthetic.
• Category Coordination & Fixture Design
• Partner with Category and Merchandising teams to understand unique brand DNA, product assortments, pack sizes, and display requirements.
• Translate product knowledge into highly functional, modular, and innovative fixture designs that enhance merchandise visibility and storytelling.
• Balance aesthetic appeal with retail ergonomics to ensure fixtures support easy replenishment and high-volume consumer interaction.
• Technical Coordination & Property Readiness
• Support the real estate and projects teams during initial site evaluations to assess structural, technical, and spatial feasibility.
• Deliver comprehensive, execution-ready GFC (Good for Construction) drawings, detailed section views, and material specifications.
• Collaborate with the Projects Lead to ensure design intent aligns with Bill of Quantities (BOQs), budgets, and MEP constraints.
• Cross-Functional Integration
• Work alongside Visual Merchandising (VM), Marketing, IT, and Operations teams to seamlessly integrate digital elements, signage, and lighting into the store architecture.
• Lead design review workshops with internal stakeholders and brand partners to refine space allocations and custom shop-in-shop (SIS) zones.
• Vendor Management & Quality Control
• Source, evaluate, and manage specialized retail design consultants, turnkey interior vendors, and prototype fixture manufacturers.
• Conduct regular site visits and factory audits to inspect prototyping, material quality, finish execution, and design compliance during rollouts.

Must-Have Experience

• 12-15 years of experience in retail interior design, space planning, and commercial architecture within organized retail, luxury multi-brand environments, or premium design agencies.
• Proven track record of designing large-format retail stores, high-street flagships, or experience-driven shopping spaces.
• Advanced proficiency in design software, including AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3ds Max/Revit, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator), and Microsoft Office.
• Strong baseline knowledge of material science, manufacturing processes for retail fixtures (wood, metal, acrylic), and commercial lighting design.
• Prior experience collaborating with category management, product buyers, and mall developer design teams.
