3D Modeling & 2D Drafting (Solid Edge)
- Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings of components, assemblies, and mechanisms using Solid Edge.
- Focus on both fabricated structures (frames, brackets) and precision machined parts (shafts, plates, etc.).
- Apply GD&T and relevant mechanical drafting standards.
Design for Fabrication & Machining
- Ensure designs are optimized for ease of fabrication and machining.
- Specify tolerances, weldments, material grades, and surface finishes clearly.
- Understand sheet metal design, structural fabrication, and conventional machining constraints.
Assembly Layouts & Mechanism Design
- Develop full SPM machine layouts showing mechanical linkages, motions, and part integration.
- Coordinate with mechanical and electrical teams for space, fitment, and function.
BOM Generation & Maintenance
- Create structured Bill of Materials from Solid Edge assemblies.
- Differentiate between fabricated parts, standard bought-outs, and machined components.
Revision Management & Change Control
- Update and revise drawings based on change requests or design improvements.
- Maintain proper revision history and ensure updated documents are shared with concerned departments.
Cross-Department Collaboration
- Work closely with R&D team, project team, production, fabrication, and assembly teams to resolve design-related issues.
- Participate in design reviews, fitment trials, and prototype evaluation.
Design Documentation & Standards
- Maintain organized drawing files, part libraries, and templates.
- Follow company standards for part numbering, title blocks, and drawing procedures.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all designs meet quality, safety, and functional requirements.
- Support QC teams during inspection and testing by providing clear design intent.
