Job summary

ALTEN India is seeking an experienced automotive design engineer in Chennai to lead 3D part design for casting and plastic injection parts. You will create parametrically modeled components, apply constraints, and generate detailed drawings with GD&T for manufacturing.

Responsibilities include modeling in Catia V5/3DX, DFM and DFA adherence, tolerance stackups, PLM data management, and delivering ready-to-produce CAD assets with self and N-1 quality checks.

Qualifications

• 7–9 years of design experience in the automotive industry.
• Education: Mechanical Engineering Graduate.
• Proficiency in Catia V5/3DX and PLM data management.

Responsibilities

• 3D part design parametrically in Catia V5/3DX for casting and plastic injection parts.
• Prepare parametric 3D models with constrained sketches and Boolean operations.
• Create drawings/3DFTA and ensure GD&T per manufacturing needs.
• Perform tolerance stackups and data management in PLM.
• Verify CAD quality, DFM/DFA compliance, and deliver design ready.

Job description

3D Part design parametrically in Catia V5/3DX for Casting and Plastic Injection molded parts

• Parametric 3D model preparation using constrained Sketches and Boolean operation with Inner / outer methodology
• Working in Product structure using multi-Skeleton methodology
• Detailed Part design as per the design standards, following Design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) requirements
• Drawing / 3DFTA creation for series production
• Detailed drawings creation with GD&T considering Manufacturing process and measurement techniques
• Tolerance Stackup using 3DCS DVM/VA
• Self and N-1s designs check to rectify CAD quality , DFM and DFA issues and correct before the delivery
• Data management in PLM
• Ensure task compilation of Self and N-1s within agreed billable efforts and time

Able to work on part modeling related to the automotive products of passenger car: HVAC, Engine cooling module, eAxle, Reducer,Actuator, HV Motors, HV Inverters, HV OBC/DCDC

7–9 years of design experience in the automotive industry

Education: Mechanical Engineering Graduate
