Prepare Engineering Drawings, Calculations and Analysis with use of mechanical design software within the stipulated time frame defined by the project scope documents.
Role and Responsibilities
- Prepare engineering drawings, calculations, and analysis using mechanical design software, ensuring completion within the time frame defined in the project scope documents.
- Ensure design compliance with specifications by reviewing the project scope, applicable standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with the team to finalize the mechanical design approach and identify any technical risks.
- Report the progress of assigned tasks regularly to the Senior Design Engineer and the Project Management team.
- Maintain and update design files and documentation in accordance with departmental procedures.
- Develop complete, organized, and detailed design packages for production and review.
- Support mechanical part selection by considering factors such as obsolescence, availability, and cost.
- Assign mechanical part numbers in accordance with material and project requirements.
- Stay updated with the latest manufacturing techniques and relevant design standards.
- Execute design change requests promptly and accurately.
- Adhere to the Wellube Design Management System and ensure all outputs align with established procedures.
Skills and Experience
Basic
- Mechanical Engineering Graduate with a minimum 5 years in the product development and oil & gas environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to conceptualise and create mechanical designs
- Proficiency in solid modelling design software, preferably Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD—experience with other platforms is also valued.
- Excellent knowledge in ASME design codes and standards.
- Knowledge of manufacturing, machining and welding is desired.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with specific ability to write at a professional and technical level
Added Advantage
- Strong working knowledge of ASME codes, including ASME Section VIII Division 1 (Pressure Vessels), ASME B31.3 (Process Piping), B31.4 (Pipeline Transportation Systems for Liquids and Slurries), B31.8 (Gas Transmission and Distribution), ASME B16.5, B16.47, and Section II (Materials).
- Experience in machine design, automation systems, and material handling equipment is also preferred.
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools is an added advantage.
