Summary
The role is responsible for end-to-end process engineering support, from technology transfer to commissioning of new molecules. Key activities include evaluating industrial-scale feasibility, conducting pilot trials, developing conceptual designs, and ensuring safe, efficient scale-up of processes. The position leads hazard identification, participates in PHA studies, and collaborates with cross‑functional teams to implement engineering modifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Technology Transfer & Feasibility
- Receive and absorb new process technology from R&D.
- Assess feasibility of the process for industrial‑scale implementation.
- Process Understanding & Optimization
- Observe lab demonstrations to understand the process and collect data for pilot trials and conceptual design.
- Suggest deviation parameters for industrial‑scale systems and validate performance in the lab.
- Define process performance norms at lab scale.
- Generate material and energy balance.
- Pilot Trials & Scale‑Up
- Map process steps in the pilot system with the pilot plant operations team.
- Monitor pilot plant trials, observe process behaviour, and generate process parameters.
- Lead troubleshooting during pilot trials with operations and R&D teams.
- Demonstrate process performance at pilot scale and define benchmarks.
- Conduct engineering lab studies to generate scale‑up data.
- Conceptual Design & Engineering
- Share designs with Operations, Engineering, HSE, Projects, and SCM teams; incorporate feedback.
- Prepare engineering modification proposals to ensure process performance.
- Provide process engineering support from concept to commissioning of new molecules.
- Safety & Risk Management
- Identify process hazards and define safeguards for catastrophic risks.
- Lead hazard identification and safeguard definition during conceptual design.
- Participate in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) studies as a process expert.
- Participate in process commissioning activities with cross‑functional teams to establish performance.
- Troubleshoot issues during commissioning and define action plans for performance gaps.
- Prepare commissioning reports and formally hand over the process to Operations.
Qualifications & Experience
- BE/B. Tech. in Chemical Engineering with 5–10 years of experience in Process Engineering of specialty chemicals, agrochemicals fields.
- Knowledge on technology transfer, process safety aspects & implementation of it in conceptual design stage itself.
- Good knowledge on Process Equipment design & its troubleshooting.
