Job summary

Job description

We are seeking a highly experienced and driven Mechanical Engineer to lead vendor development for the range of defence product portfolio and new product development initiatives for the defence business (including naval / marine, land system & aerospace). for Mysuru location with 15 years of experience

Key Responsibilities:

• Supplier Selection & Assessment: Research, identify, and audit new vendors to evaluate their technical capabilities, quality systems, and capacity for the product portfolio of the company.

New Product Development (NPD): Collaborate with Design, R&D and suppliers on new part development, acting as the technical liaison between the design and industry.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, manufacturing, procurement and quality.

Quality Management: Drive vendor approval, conduct audits, development of product prototype and resolve quality issues in liaison with design & quality.

Cost & Negotiation: Participate in price negotiations, contracts, and terms to improve cost competitiveness and achieve cost-saving targets.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

15 years + experience in vendor development preferably for defence industry.

Knowledge of mechanical & electrical equipment (including controls & instrumentation), materials selection, castings, machining, fabrication processes, production processes etc.

Familiarity with industry standards, military standards and marine classification societies. Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management abilities.
