Job summary

Whirlpool India invites applications for a role in Tooling and Equipment Sourcing at its Gurugram facility. You will lead end-to-end tooling development, identify suppliers, finalize vendors, and manage data in central systems while supporting long-term capacity planning from a tooling perspective.

The role requires a B.Tech in Mechanical or Polymer Engineering (or equivalent CIPET/NTTF/GTTC) and 6–9 years of tooling experience in plastics and sheet metal/die casting, with CAD proficiency and

Qualifications

• B.Tech in mechanical or polymer engineering or equivalent.
• 6–9 years of experience in developing tooling for plastic, sheet metal or die casting and handling capital purchases.
• Experience in injection molding tooling and supplier development is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create tooling supplier strategy aligned with long-term capacity planning for injection molding and other commodities.
• Identify and finalize tooling and capital equipment suppliers per procurement policy.
• Oversee end-to-end tooling development including supplier finalization, commercial closure, IDP, DFM, and tool delivery to tool makers and molders.
• Familiar with Whirlpool NPI/EPI processes for tooling and equipment development in line with WPD processes.
• Support cost optimization, quality improvements, and efficiency through tooling-related initiatives.
• Manage third-party asset data and ensure compliance in internal audits.
• Collaborate with plant PM to map capacity and tooling requirements against LTCP figures.
• Maintain tooling-related documentation per SOA and internal workflows.

Recognizes and evaluate sales, promotional campaigns, and other opportunities to secure reduced prices. Assesses supplier's products to ensure that they comply with specifications and meet the organization’s quality standards.

This role in summary

This role is responsible for managing Tooling and Equipment sourcing for Whirlpool India business in the respective factory location along with managing Injection molding space for new project & business continuity .The prime responsibilities will include end to end tool development & execution and managing tooling related data into central systems as per established governance processes.The role also encompasses support for long term capacity planning activities from a tooling perspective

Your responsibilities will include

• Create tooling supplier strategy inline with sourcing strategy & long term capacity planning for injection molding & other commodities.
• Supporting the internal stakeholder in identifying & finalizing the tooling & capital equipment suppliers inline with procurement policy.
• Have an end to end accountability of tooling development which includes supplier finalization, commercial closure, IDP, DFM closure & tool providing at tool maker & molder for buy parts.
• Familiar with the Whirlpool NPI/EPI process for tool/Equipment & component development inline with WPD process.
• Performs product/process analysis for cost optimization, quality improvement, and improved efficiency
• Accountable for 3rd party asset management systems & ensuring zero non compliance in internal auditing.
• Work with the plant PM team to map the capacity & MOB tool requirement inline with LTCP numbers.
• Managing the approval cycle documentations as per SOA & maintaining through internal workflow systems.
• Responsible for working closely with suppliers, tool makers, internal stakeholders in identifying the tooling & equipment needs and close the same as per the project timelines.
• Should contribute ideas towards identifying best cost alternatives in tooling, manufacturing process, materials, designs, etc

Minimum requirements

• Educational Qualifications & Certifications: B.Tech-Mech/ Polymer Engg/ + CIPET /NTTF /GTTC or equivalent
• Experience: min 6~9 Yrs Experience in the Development of Plastic & sheet metal/die casting Tooling & Equipments Handling the capital purchase
• Preferred: M.Tech-Mech/ Polymer Engg; Home appliance/consumer goods/ Automotive Industry / Injection Molding; Target people from Application Engineering group

Preferred skills and experiences

• Equipment Purchase Co ordination with User team on technical aspects and Conclude the Commercials as per T&E strategy
• Computer and computer assisted design (CAD) proficiency.
• Relevant material knowledge to support tool design capability analysis
• Strong exposure On the Negotiation part for T&E Projects
