Job summary

Whirlpool India is seeking a Structures Engineer - Sr Analyst (Lead Engineer) for Pondicherry to lead design and development of washing machine structures and powertrain modules. You will deliver engineering deliverables per the product development process and work with cost and quality teams to improve efficiency through design innovations.

A BE in Mechanical and 10+ years of experience are required. The role involves CAD-led design, BOM management in Windchill/SAP, and applying FMEA/DVP&R,

Qualifications

• B.E in Mechanical engineering is required.
• 10+ years of experience in mechanical design.
• Knowledge of GD&T, FMEA, DVP&R and validation.
• Experience in plastic, sheetmetal, die cast parts.
• Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop washing machine structural parts.

The team you will be a part of

The Drafting team prepares and maintains detailed design drawings, schematics or specifications typically using computer-aided design software. Creates, modifies and controls detailed two- and three-dimensional parts and assembly drawings from engineers' and technicians' sketches, plans and written and verbal instructions.

This role in summary:

Whirlpool is looking for a qualified candidate for the role of Structures Engineer - Sr Analyst role (Lead Engineer) for Pondicherry Location. This role will manage design and development of washing machines parts/modules related to the structures & power train module. You will be responsible for delivering the engineering deliverables of your subsystem/module as per whirlpool product development process. In this role you will also interact with the cost and quality team to identify the cost and quality opportunities in your respective modules and parts. Identify and capture efficiency opportunities through product design improvements.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Design & develop parts (plastic, sheetmetal, casted, Aluminium) for the washing machine.
• Design & develop washing machine power train parts (gear drive train, belts & pulleys).
• Deliver Cost and Quality assigned targets
• Execute part / module development following the Whirlpool Product Development (WPD) methodology
• Create Engineering BOM related to your parts/modules.
• Create Engineering changes & Able to make BOM changes in Windchill / SAP
• Create FMEA ( Failure Modes and Effect Analysis) & DVP&R (Design Validation Plan & Report)
• Create work plans/ schedules to complete projects and introduce changes into production
• Support Change Notices for project execution
• Interact with internal and external stakeholders as part of the project execution ( Suppliers, Procurement, day to day team, Manufacturing, Marketing, Quality)
• Ability to utilize analytical skills and proactive self-management to meet and exceed goals

Key Deliverables:

• Design & development of washing machine parts (Structural & power train) module.
• Drive and deliver cost & quality targets for your module/parts.

Minimum requirements:

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: B.E (Mechanical)

EXP: 10+ years

Technical:

• Design & develop parts (plastic, sheetmetal, die cast).
• Knowledge of power train parts design & development.
• OPEX/ 6Sigma certification - Black Belt preferable.
• Conceptual & Analytical Skills
• Knowledge in FMEA, DVP&R, verification and validation.
• Knowledge in various manufacturing processes and materials.
• Knowledge in GD&T, Design Standards, variation analysis
• Knowledge in APQP /Lean tools and practices
• Systematic problem solving
• PMP - PMI certification - Good to have.
