Job summary

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. is seeking a Deputy Manager in the Patents Department to drive patent searching, drafting and prosecution for vehicle technologies.

The role requires deep domain knowledge in engines, transmissions, emissions, interiors, and related areas, with a focus on protecting innovations. The candidate will educate engineers on IP creation, run ideation workshops and manage patent studies (patentability, FTO, invalidation) and draft/submit patent applications plus responses to

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of work experience in patent searching, drafting and prosecution.
• Expertise in drafting patent applications and handling examination reports of Indian Patent Office.
• Experience with patent databases (Derwent, Orbit) and analytics (novelty, FTO, invalidation, technology search, infringement).
• Domain expertise in vehicle technology such as engines, transmission, emission system, interiors, vehicle body, brakes, suspension.

Responsibilities

• Educate and motivate engineers on IP creation and protection.
• Conduct ideation workshops and collaborate on new idea generation/submission.
• Perform patent studies on patentability, FTO, Invalidation, State of art and infringement across vehicular technologies.
• Draft/review patent application and response to examination reports for filing with Indian Patent Office.

Educational Qualification: BE/ B-Tech/ M-Tech in Mechanical Engineering/Automotive Design

Summary:

• 5-7 years of work experience in patent searching, drafting and prosecution (preferably in vehicle technology)
• Expertise in drafting patent applications and handling examination reports of Indian Patent Office
• Experience with patent databases (Derwent, Orbit) and analytics (novelty, FTO, invalidation, technology search, infringement)
• Domain expertise in vehicle technology like engines, transmission, emission system, interiors, vehicle body, brakes, suspension, etc.
• Prior experience in Law firm or In-house (preferred)

Key Responsibilities:

• Educate and motivate engineers on IP creation and protection
