Eaton India in Pune is seeking a Sr. Engineer for MV Switchgear and Mechanism Design to drive new product development (AIS/GIS) for Europe and Middle East markets.

You will lead design activities, coordinate with global stakeholders, run testing and documentation, and ensure IEC 62271 compliance throughout the project lifecycle. The role demands strong mechanical design experience, proficiency with CAD tools, and a disciplined approach to DfX, cost targets, and timely delivery, while mentoring

Qualifications

• B.E./B Tech – Mechanical with 9+ years experience; 5+ years in MV switchgear design, development, manufacturing, testing.
• Excellent hands-on design & problem-solving skills; knowledge of IEC 62271 is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design MV Switchgear (AIS/GIS) meeting customer requirements, cost targets and market tech.
• Lead mechanism design and prototype development with global stakeholders.
• Drive project execution through design, testing and documentation per IEC 62271.
• Provide innovative engineering solutions and ensure on-time delivery while controlling costs.

Design and Develop MV Switchgear (AIS, GIS, RMU) meeting customer requirement, cost target and Market related technology.B. In-depth knowledge of mechanism design with experience in prototype/product developmentC. Coordinate with Global stakeholders and Drive project execution through Design, testing and implementation phaseD. Technical ownership of the project. Ensure product compliance to global design standards such as IEC62271E. Drive Analytic/Numerical Modeling, calculations and simulation 1st approach to meet requirements.F. Continuously improving design to achieve best practice standardsG. Providing innovative and creative Engineering solutions that meet company and customer quality standardsH. Delivering engineering solutions on time, considering the most cost-effective utilization of people, materials and plant while maintaining high quality standardsI. Technical documentation of design in proper formats, tests as per IEC 62271 standardJ. Making Bill of material and calculate Switchgear costing, Cost reduction.K. Release of Production documents such as BOM, design, Test reports, Tech manuals etc.L. Preparing and reviewing of Routine and type testM. Design lead responsibility on Projects which would also involve coaching and mentoring team members to achieve project goalsN. Visit vendors to ensure timely delivery and product qualityO. Deployment of DfX/DfSS principles on projectsP. Participate in design reviews, both customer and internal as requiredQ. Review reliability predictions, and Design Failure Modes and Effects analysis (FMEA) and structural/thermal/CFD results to proactively mitigate risks early in the projectR. Participate in multi-discipline concurrent development and corrective action teamsS. Should Drive for Innovation in design to have competitive solution versus competition"Qualifications:B.E. / B Tech (Mechanical) or M. Tech / MS (Mechanical)B.E./B Tech - 9 Years + experience with 5 Years+ of experience in design, development, manufacturing process and testing of MV Switchgear.Skills:"1. Designing of MV Switchgear such as GIS, RMU and AIS for critical performance parameters such as Dielectrics, Partial Discharge, Thermal, Internal Arc, STC and endurance.2. Design of Switching mechanisms, CO/OCO functionality and Interlock designs3. Design knowledge on different types mechanisms and experience in industrialization in product4. Overall MV Switchgear manufacturing process knowledge5. Working knowledge of CAD software's such as Creo Non-Parametric, Inventor6. Knowledge on PLM software's such as Enovia7. Knowledge of MV Switchgear routine testing & type testing procedure and Practical experience in testing8. Experience of New product development Stage gate process9. Hands on experience in product development leveraging DfX methodology10. Having IEC 62271 compliant product knowledge will be considered a plus11.
