Job summary

Iris Software is seeking a Database Lead (MS SQL) to design, optimize, and maintain enterprise-grade databases across multiple client environments. The role requires collaboration with developers and administrators to ensure system integrity and data security.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience with SQL Server, strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, and a solid understanding of data management, permissions, recovery, and monitoring.

Qualifications

• 5+ years engineering of enterprise-grade database systems (SQL Server, Sybase, Oracle, or DB2) required.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL and data modelling.
• Strong troubleshooting and data security knowledge.
• Understanding of data management, permissions, recovery and monitoring.
• Experience with software development and web applications.

Key Responsibilities

We are looking for a qualified Database developer to design stable, robust, and reliable database objects, and processes, to effectively manage large amounts of information. You will be responsible for developing, testing, improving, and maintaining existing databases to help users retrieve data effectively..

As part of our IT team, you will work closely with developers to ensure system consistency. You will also collaborate with administrators and clients to provide technical support and identify new requirements. Communication and organization skills are keys for this position, along with a problem-solution attitude.

Requirements and skills

• Proven work experience as a Database developer
• Advanced proficiency in SQL.
• Exceptional critical thinking and troubleshooting abilities.
• In-depth understanding of data management (e.g. permissions, recovery, security and monitoring)
• Knowledge of software development and user interface web applications
• Knowledge of MS SQL Server Services is a plus
• Excellent analytical and organization skills
• An ability to understand front-end user requirements and a problem-solving attitude
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Degree in information technology, computer science, or an adjacent field.
• Certificate in Database Development is strongly advantageous.
• 5+ years Engineering of Enterprise grade Database systems such as SQL Server, Sybase, Oracle, or DB2.

Nice to Have

• Cloud Database knowledge of platforms like Azure, Databricks, Kubernetes, or Docker
• Developer mindset with skill in Python
• Experience with Open-source Databases such as MySQL etc., in-memory caches, Key-Value Databases and Graph Databases.
