Iris Software is seeking a qualified Database Developer to design, test, and maintain robust database objects to support large data volumes and critical applications across our IT services. You will collaborate with developers and admins to ensure data integrity and performance.

The role requires strong SQL skills, data management expertise, and a proactive problem-solving mindset to deliver reliable data solutions and training materials for users.

Qualifications

• Proven work experience as a Database developer.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL and data management concepts.
• Experience with managing permissions, recovery, security and monitoring.
• Knowledge of software development and web applications.
• Experience with MS SQL Server Services is a plus.
• 5+ years engineering enterprise-grade database systems.

Job Description

We are looking for a qualified Database developer to design stable, robust, and reliable database objects, and processes, to effectively manage large amounts of information. You will be responsible for developing, testing, improving, and maintaining existing databases to help users retrieve data effectively.

As part of our IT team, you will work closely with developers to ensure system consistency. You will also collaborate with administrators and clients to provide technical support and identify new requirements. Communication and organization skills are keys for this position, along with a problem-solution attitude.

Responsibilities:

• Design stable, reliable and effective database objects, and processes
• Optimize and maintain legacy systems
• Modify and perform tests on database objects, and processes according to requests
• Solve database usage issues and malfunctions
• Identify new features based on user requirements
• Ensure all database programs meet company and performance requirements
• Research and suggest new database products, services, and protocols
• Develop technical and training manuals
• Provide data management support to users

Requirements and skills:

• Proven work experience as a Database developer
• Advanced proficiency in SQL.
• Exceptional critical thinking and troubleshooting abilities.
• In-depth understanding of data management (e.g. permissions, recovery, security and monitoring)
• Knowledge of software development and user interface web applications
• Knowledge of MS SQL Server Services is a plus
• Excellent analytical and organization skills
• An ability to understand front-end user requirements and a problem-solving attitude
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Degree in information technology, computer science, or an adjacent field.
• Certificate in Database Development is strongly advantageous.
• 5+ years Engineering of Enterprise grade Database systems such as SQL Server, Sybase, Oracle, or DB2

Nice to Have :

• Cloud Database knowledge of platforms like Azure, Databricks, Kubernetes, or Docker
• Developer mindset with skill in Python
• Experience with Open-source Databases such as MySQL etc., in-memory caches, Key-Value Databases and Graph Databases.
