Job summary

Skan AI in Bengaluru is seeking an experienced PostgreSQL DBA to manage highly loaded databases and ensure performance, availability, and scalability across self-managed and cloud environments.

Responsibilities include optimizing queries, implementing backup/recovery, replication, and HA, and supporting migrations with Alembic and Liquibase while collaborating with engineering teams.

Qualifications

• 5-10 years of hands-on PostgreSQL administration experience.
• Experience with large-scale, heavily loaded PostgreSQL databases.
• Strong knowledge of backup & recovery, replication & HA, performance tuning, and connection management.

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and upgrade PostgreSQL databases across environments.
• Manage high-volume and high-traffic databases with large datasets.
• Monitor and optimise performance, queries, indexing, vacuum, and auto vacuum.
• Define and manage connection thresholds and pooling.
• Implement and manage backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Design and support replication, read replicas, and high-availability setups.
• Understand and apply sharding and partitioning strategies when required.
• Manage schema migrations using Alembic.
• Understand and evaluate Liquibase vs Alembic usage.
• Support PostgreSQL in self-managed (on-prem) and cloud environments.
• Good troubleshooting skills.
• Helps in design schema and make sure things are in order.

This is a hybrid role based in Bangalore, with an expectation to work from the office three days a week.
