Job summary

Icertis is seeking a seasoned SQL Server Database Administrator in Pune to provide 24x7 production support, manage Azure SQL databases, and drive cloud migration and automation initiatives.

The role requires deep HA/DR expertise, performance tuning, and scripting skills (PowerShell/Python) to optimize operations, with a focus on cost-efficient Azure deployments and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of SQL Server DBA experience.
• Azure cloud experience with SQL databases and HA/DR.
• Azure certifications and FinOps awareness.
• Experience supporting mission-critical, high-availability systems.

Responsibilities

• Depth understanding of SQL Server Architecture, SQL best practices in both on premise and cloud environments.
• Experience with a cloud platform is must - Azure.
• Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems.
• Ability to multi-task and context-switch effectively between different activities and teams.
• Owning, tracking and resolving database related incidents and requests, within MTTR.
• Experience with performance tuning and optimization, using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
• Experience with SQL Always on High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options.
• Experience handling tools such as Redgate, Datadog etc.
• Lead database migration and modernization initiatives to Azure.
• Drive automation and DevOps using PowerShell, Azure Automation, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and lead root cause analysis (RCA).
• Optimize Azure SQL costs using right-sizing, elastic pools, and reserved capacity. Adopt AI tools /Agents/third party tools for DB operations
• Lead cross-functional collaboration and maintain SOP documentation to enhance process standardization
• Adopt new changes and related technologies quickly
• Have excellent communication and documentation skills.

6+ years of experience in SQL Server Database Administration.

Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems.

Strong hands-on expertise with Azure SQL Database, Managed Instance, Hyperscale.

Deep knowledge of HA/DR, performance tuning, and security.

Experience with Azure networking (Private Endpoints, VNets).

Deeps understanding of SQL performance tuning

Experience supporting mission-critical, enterprise-scale systems.

Strong scripting/automation skills (PowerShell /Python preferred).

knowledge on AI tools/Agents is plus

Experience handling tools such as Redgate, Datadog etc.
