Job summary

Jumbo Consultants is seeking a senior SQL Server professional to lead installation, configuration, and maintenance of SQL Server environments across on-premises and Azure.

You will design and implement high availability, perform advanced performance tuning, manage jobs and migrations, and ensure robust backup, security, and auditing practices. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and thorough documentation are essential.

Qualifications

• Senior-level SQL Server administration experience with Azure SQL.
• Expertise in Always On, clustering, performance tuning, and security.
• Familiarity with Azure services and scripting with PowerShell.

Responsibilities

• Lead installation, configuration, and maintenance of SQL Server instances (2016/2019/2022) in on-prem and Azure.
• Design and implement High Availability solutions including Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, and Geo-replication in Azure.
• Perform performance tuning using DMVs, Query Store, Extended Events, and Database Tuning Advisor.
• Manage SQL Server Agent jobs, linked servers, and database mail.
• Oversee database migrations, upgrades, and patching.
• Implement robust backup and recovery strategies using native tools and Azure Backup.
• Ensure database security through role-based access, encryption, and auditing.
• Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to optimize database performance and troubleshoot issues.
• Maintain documentation including SOPs, DR plans, and capacity reports.
