Job summary

Liminal Custody is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to own the reliability, performance, security, and resilience of our databases powering critical platforms. You will collaborate with Engineering, DevOps, and Security to build secure data infrastructure.

You will design backup/recovery strategies, optimize queries and configurations, and ensure high availability. Strong AWS, Linux, and networking understanding are essential for this role.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience as a DBA/Database Engineer/Database Administrator.
• Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and MySQL.
• Practical experience with AWS Aurora and RDS.
• Good experience managing MongoDB in production environments.
• Strong SQL skills with query and performance optimization.
• Experience with ORM frameworks and understanding their impact on database performance.
• Familiarity with GraphQL and modern application data-access patterns.
• Good understanding of AWS, Linux, networking, and cloud infrastructure.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with database monitoring and observability tools.

Responsibilities

• Own the availability, performance, reliability, and security of production databases.
• Administer and optimize PostgreSQL, MySQL, Aurora, RDS, and MongoDB environments.
• Design and maintain backup, recovery, replication, and high-availability strategies.
• Monitor database health, capacity, performance, and resource utilization.
• Troubleshoot complex database performance and production issues.
• Optimize queries, indexes, schemas, connections, and database configurations.
• Work with Engineering teams on ORMs, database design, migrations, and query optimization.
• Support applications using GraphQL and ensure efficient and secure data access patterns.
• Implement and maintain database security controls, including access management, encryption, auditing, and least privilege.
• Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and RTO/RPO initiatives.
• Automate database operations, monitoring, provisioning, and routine maintenance wherever possible.
• Support incident response and root-cause analysis for database-related incidents.

About the Role:

Liminal Custody is looking for a Senior Database Administrator to own the reliability, performance, security, and resilience of the databases powering our critical platforms.

This is more than a traditional DBA role. You will work across PostgreSQL, MySQL, Aurora, RDS, MongoDB, ORM, and GraphQL, partnering closely with Engineering, DevOps, and Security teams to build highly reliable and secure data infrastructure.

Desired Candidate Profile
