Job summary

Birlasoft is seeking a Data Scientist with a strong GenAI foundation to design and deploy AI-enabled applications. You will build scalable Python backends and integrate LLMs into real-world workflows, working with OpenAI, Hugging Face, LangChain, and similar frameworks.

The role emphasizes building robust APIs, handling session context, and optimizing performance for GenAI-powered services, with collaboration across DevOps and platform teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on Python development experience, with emphasis on backend/API design.
• Experience integrating GenAI or NLP models using OpenAI, Hugging Face Transformers, Cohere, etc.
• Proficiency with RESTful APIs, JSON handling, and web-based integration patterns.

Responsibilities

• Develop robust, modular Python applications and APIs using frameworks like FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
• Build backend services that consume or serve LLM responses and manage prompt workflows.
• Optimize performance, concurrency, and error handling for GenAI-powered apps.
• Integrate with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Hugging Face, etc.) to build intelligent assistants and copilots.
• Implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines using LangChain, LlamaIndex, or Haystack.
• Engineer and manage prompts for Q&A, semantic search, content generation, or entity extraction.
• Work with embedding models to convert text into vector representations and query vector databases to power semantic search.
• Package and deploy GenAI services using Docker, Kubernetes, or AWS Lambda for scalable access.
• Collaborate with DevOps to integrate CI/CD, logging, and monitoring.
