Job Description
Data Scientist – a hybrid role with an expectation to work on average 2 days per week from an HPE office.
Responsibilities
- Formulate and define analytics solution objectives and technical requirements based on user needs, business processes, industry requirements, and advanced analytic models.
- Conceptualize, build, develop, and enhance client analytic models.
- Select appropriate analytic modeling methodology considering use case, data, cost, and timing constraints to deliver business‑focused insights.
- Embed analytic models into operational business processes in collaboration with Application Developers.
- Measure business performance based on the models.
- Apply best practices to analytics solutions and contribute to the development of improved practices.
- Lead model enhancements.
- Summarize complex ideas with visual models to simplify user experience.
- Communicate analytics solutions to appropriate stakeholders.
Knowledge and Skills
- Advanced knowledge of data science methodologies including classical regression, neural nets, CHAID, CART, association rules, sequence analysis, cluster analysis, and text mining.
- Ability to translate business requirements into mathematical models and data science objectives for measurable outcomes.
- Advanced understanding of analytics software (Python) and deployment architectures.
- Advanced communication and presentation skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and effectiveness across geographical boundaries.
- Programming knowledge in Python, SQL, R, SAS, Java, Unix Shell scripting.
- Desired working knowledge of Hadoop framework.
- Advanced data visualization skills with tools such as Power BI, R, and Qlikview.
Education and Experience
- Master’s Degree in Management, Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science, or equivalent (preferred).
- At least 5–6 years of relevant experience.
