AI and Machine Learning Engineer (Hybrid – 2 days per week onsite, HPE office)

Overview

As part of HPE Networking’s Digital Experience & Automation (DEA) team, you will design and implement AI‑driven solutions that transform support and services into a unified, efficient, and simple digital experience. The role focuses on applying automation, machine learning, and data‑driven insights to accelerate task completion and improve customer, partner, and employee experiences.

Responsibilities

• Conduct advanced research in AI and machine learning, staying current with emerging technologies and identifying opportunities to solve complex business problems.
• Design and architect AI solutions, including analysis of business requirements, scalability, performance, and maintainability considerations, and propose appropriate models and algorithms.
• Develop, program, and test integrated software algorithms for structured and unstructured data processing, leveraging large‑scale frameworks, statistical modeling, and deep learning techniques.
• Translate technical specifications into code, perform debugging, and define and monitor performance metrics.
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and code reviews to junior team members, ensuring best practices are followed.
• Engage in technical discussions, participate in design reviews, and deliver detailed presentations and reports to stakeholders, translating complex concepts into accessible terms.
• Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams including product managers, data scientists, business analysts, engineers, and the engineering manager to align and drive AI and ML project implementation.
• Identify areas for continuous improvement, explore new techniques or technologies, and promote adoption of best practices.
• Evaluate and integrate third‑party tools or services that enhance AI capabilities and perform any necessary system administration or network-related tasks applicable to the role.
• Coordinate meetings, facilitate effective communication, and support project execution while maintaining high standards of quality and security.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, or a closely related quantitative discipline; Master’s degree preferred.
• Typically 4–7 years of experience in machine learning, AI, or related fields.
• Deep understanding of machine learning algorithms (e.g., linear regression, decision trees, support vector machines, random forests, neural networks) and reinforcement learning.
• Proficiency in model selection, hyper‑parameter tuning, and evaluating model performance with appropriate metrics.
• Strong foundation in mathematics and statistics, including linear algebra, calculus, probability theory, and advanced statistical concepts.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java, and experience developing production‑level code using software engineering best practices and version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Knowledge of libraries and frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit‑learn, and Keras; experience with advanced neural network architectures (CNNs, RNNs, transformers), transfer learning, generative models, and deep learning optimization.
• Experience in conducting research, monitoring emerging technologies, and applying state‑of‑the‑art techniques to solve complex problems.
• Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders and guide strategic decisions.
