Data Platform Engineering Manager – Tesco Technology
Lead the design, delivery and continuous improvement of Tesco’s data platform, ensuring secure, scalable and compliant data flows that enable advanced analytics, threat detection and incident response.
Responsibilities

Data Architecture
Design, build and manage real‑time, near real‑time and batch data architectures that support threat detection, incident response and reporting through advanced analytics, machine learning and GenAI capabilities.

Data Integration & Transformation
Implement and manage automated frameworks for integrating data from various security sources into the security lake, and the transformation frameworks to move data between the raw, trusted and curated layers.

Data Security & Compliance
Implement and enforce data‑security standard methodologies, ensuring protection of sensitive information and compliance with relevant regulations.

Automation & DevOps
Implement automations and DevOps practices to streamline the deployment, configuration and management of data‑platform components.
- Recruit and develop cyber data talent.
- Provide reporting and insight to the cyber‑security leadership team.
- Manage service providers and cross‑functional teams.
Qualifications
- Relevant experience as an Engineering Manager, leading data teams and managing projects at scale.
- Solid programming experience with Python and proficiency in SQL.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure and big‑data technologies like Spark or Flink.
- Proficiency in Kubernetes, CI/CD and Terraform.
- Working knowledge of ETL/ELT frameworks and orchestration tools such as Airflow and dbt.
- Strong written, verbal and presentation skills.
- Ability to deliver clear guidance, empower the team and drive outcomes.
- Experience with collaborative development methods (mob, ensemble programming).
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices.
