Job summary

Forward Eye Technologies is seeking a Data Governance Specialist to lead governance strategies and steward data assets. You will implement catalog and lineage capabilities, collaborate with IT and business units, and drive policies for data quality and security across the organization.

The role requires hands-on experience with data catalog tools and strong skills in SQL/HTML, with a focus on collaboration and process improvements. Hyderabad/Ahmedabad/Pune/Chennai/Kolkata locations supported.

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of data governance concepts including catalog, dictionary, lineage and stewardship workflows.
• Hands-on with configuring and maintaining data catalog tools (Alation/Collibra/Informatica).
• Proficiency in SQL and HTML for scripting and customization.
• Familiarity with data governance frameworks and methodologies.

Job Responsibilities

Data Governance Expertise :

• Develop and maintain comprehensive data governance strategies to ensure data quality, security, and compliance.
• Establish and implement policies, standards, and guidelines related to data governance, data stewardship, and data quality management.
• Lead initiatives to enhance data governance capabilities including data catalog, data dictionary, business lineage, technical lineage, and stewardship workflows.

Data Catalog Management :

• Configure, maintain, and optimize data catalog tools such as Alation, Collibra, Informatica, or similar platforms.
• Ensure accurate metadata management and data lineage tracking across various systems.
• Collaborate with data stewards and business users to populate and maintain the data catalog, ensuring it meets the needs of all stakeholders.

Data Stewardship :

• Work closely with data stewards across the organization to ensure data is managed effectively and consistently.
• Develop and oversee stewardship workflows, ensuring clear roles and responsibilities are defined and followed.
• Promote a culture of data stewardship and accountability within the organization.

Data Lineage and Dictionary :

• Establish and maintain business and technical data lineage documentation, ensuring transparency in data flows and transformations.
• Create and manage a centralized data dictionary, providing clear definitions and context for all data elements.

Technical Support and Collaboration :

• Collaborate with IT and data engineering teams to integrate data governance tools with existing data management systems.
• Provide technical support for data governance initiatives, troubleshooting and resolving issues as they arise.
• Stay updated on the latest trends and best practices in data governance, data catalog, and data stewardship.

Training and Documentation :

• Develop training programs and materials to educate stakeholders on data governance policies, data catalog usage, and stewardship best practices.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to data governance processes and tools.

Technical Knowledge and Skills Required :

• Deep knowledge and understanding of data governance concepts, including data catalog, data dictionary, business lineage, technical lineage, and stewardship workflows.
• Hands-on experience with configuration and maintenance of data catalog tools such as Alation, Collibra, Informatica, or similar platforms.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as SQL and HTML for scripting and customization purposes.
• Familiarity with data governance frameworks and methodologies.

Soft Skills Required :

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle complex data governance challenges.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Work Experience :

• Proven experience in data governance, data catalog, and data stewardship roles.
• Experience working with data governance tools and platforms, configuring and maintaining them to meet organizational needs.-
• Experience in developing and implementing data governance policies and best practices.

Academics :

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Data Science, or a related field.
