Job summary

Hdfc Bank is seeking a seasoned Data Governance Lead to drive the governance discipline across the bank. You will manage data artifacts, monitor policies, and coordinate with business and tech teams to enforce standards and processes.

The role requires hands-on experience with governance platforms and strong collaboration with stakeholders. You will ensure metadata quality, data catalog maintenance, and controlled data access while preparing aging and remediation reports for audit readiness.

Qualifications

• 6–9 years total work experience.
• 4+ years of experience in Banking/financial services.
• Experience in SQL queries for data reports.
• Hands-on experience with data governance platforms/tools.
• Experience with data management and metadata governance.

Job Purpose

The purpose of the role is to ensure that the discipline of Data Governance is driven throughout the Bank. The person will be responsible for driving & managing data artifacts, monitoring and reporting on the Banks data related policies, standards, practices, processes in governance platform.

Key Responsibility Areas:

• Monitoring of Data
• Management/Governance Policies,
• Procedures, Processes, Standards
• and Control
• Assess and report the progress and achievements of Data Governance initiatives or programmes. Closely work with business, tech leads in driving the implementation of policies or procedures towards governance protocol.
• Providing inputs and recommendation on Data
• practices, Data Dictionary, Data
• Quality (meta data) Creation & Enhancement of Data Dictionary and Catalogue for the identified enterprise applications. Ensure metadata in data catalog is updated, validated and aligned with standards. Managing user access requests, ensuring controlled access, and aligning with security and compliance standards.
• Escalation of any data governance
• related issues identified to the
• senior leadership Tracking of Data Governance action plan (say planned Vs Actuals)
• Ensuring timely action and response to relevant Data Owner and Data Originator/User Help business understand the Data Governance problem and highlight the business impact of failures. Work towards in driving and adherence to the data practices for achieving to the enterprise standards.
• Work on fixing the data governance
• gaps/issue with Technical Data
• Stewards/IT team Understand data issues and Conduct root cause analysis. Prepare Ageing report on the pending issues and follow up to closure.
• Policy Maintenance Updating and maintaining data policies, ensuring adherence across teams, and supporting audit readiness.
• Managing change management

• Facilitating and /or conducting audits to ensure that Policies, Procedures, Processes and Standards to ensure they are implemented in letter and spirit. Support and Drive on implementation of data governance tool and helping the business to adhere and follow the data practices

• Hands on experience on data governance platform and Exposure to any data governance tool

(Collibra, Alation, Infomatica) & reporting tools say Power BI, Tableau etc

• Experience in Data Management and Data Governance
• Experience of working in large, matrix organization
