Job summary

Persistent Systems is seeking a Data Engineer in Bengaluru to design, build, and scale a modern data platform. You will transform raw data into clean, tested analytical models to support BI and data science teams, with emphasis on Snowflake and dbt.

You will develop modular ELT pipelines, implement dimensional data modeling, optimize SQL queries and orchestrate with CI/CD workflows. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and ongoing learning opportunities are included.

Qualifications

• 3 to 8 years of hands-on data engineering experience.
• Deep knowledge of Snowflake architecture and features.
• Strong command of dbt core/cloud, macros, packages, and incremental loading strategies.
• Advanced SQL skills; basic Python for scripting or orchestration.
• Familiarity with Git, Agile practices, and orchestrators like Apache Airflow or dbt Cloud.

What You'll Do:

• Pipeline Development: Build and maintain modular ELT data pipelines using Snowflake and dbt across staging, intermediate, and mart layers.


• Data Modeling: Implement dimensional data modeling (Kimball methodology) and design scalable schemas.


• Performance Tuning: Optimize complex SQL queries, virtual warehouses, and incremental dbt models for cost and speed.


• Data Quality & Testing: Write automated data tests (uniqueness, relationships, custom assertions) and maintain dbt documentation.


• CI/CD & Version Control: Manage code using Git, integrate dbt projects with CI/CD deployment workflows, and handle orchestration.

Expertise You'll Bring:

• Experience: 3 to 8 years of hands-on data engineering experience.


• Snowflake Skills: Deep knowledge of Snowflake architecture, virtual warehouse sizing, Time Travel, Tasks, and Streams.


• dbt Proficiency: Strong command over dbt core/cloud, macros, packages, and incremental loading strategies.


• SQL & Programming: Advanced analytical SQL skills alongside basic Python knowledge for scripting or orchestration.


• Collaboration: Familiarity with Git, Agile practices, and orchestrators like Apache Airflow or dbt Cloud
