Amazon Data Services India Private Limited (ADSIPL) seeks an experienced Data Centre Engineering Operations professional to own hands-on management of mechanical and electrical infrastructure across its data centers in India. Location discussions will cover several India sites and may include Mumbai.

The role entails incident, change, asset, and cost management with collaboration across landlords, vendors, and internal teams.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of relevant work in a data center or critical environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Ownership of Data Center changes, events, incidents, and problems from start to finish, overseeing investigation and resolution actions.
• Maintenance and repairs of Data Center infrastructure (Electrical/Mechanical/Fire) planned and executed per business needs.
• Asset and Inventory management responsibilities.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, emergency procedures, preventive maintenance programs, and technical documentation.
• Ensure standardization and best-practice operating procedures, including automation.
• Deliver regular engineering reports and ensure adherence to SLAs and KPIs.
• Hands-on facility support for equipment installation, replacement, and audits.
• Oversee compliance auditing and timely close-out of corrective action plans.

Amazon is expanding the Data Center management team in India. This position within Amazon Data Services India Private Limited (ADSIPL) requires broad Data Center knowledge with Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in as many specific fields as possible. The location for this job will be discussed, as there may be opportunities in several India locations.

This position serves as the primary operational resource to support ADSIPL within its owned and operated Data Centers in India. It will provide a central point of ownership and accountability for the overall ‘hands‑on’ management of the Mechanical, Electrical (M&E) and other critical infrastructure across ADSIPL’s portfolio of Data Centers in India. It will be responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of the critical infrastructure supporting IT operations within the Indian Data Center space. It will also include event management, incident management, problem management, change management, and cost/contract management. In addition, it will include relationship management with the landlords, critical facility vendors, Data Center Construction team, Data Center Operations team, Technical Program Managers, Security team, and Logistics team in India. The position will require 24x7 on‑call, scheduled weekend work support and rotational shift. The location for this job will be discussed, as there may be opportunities in several India locations.

Key Job Responsibilities

Operations and Maintenance

• Ownership of all Data Center changes, events, incidents, and problems from beginning to end, overseeing the completion of investigation, root cause analysis, and follow‑up resolution actions.
• Responsible for ensuring maintenance and repairs of a Data Center (Electrical/Mechanical/Fire Suppression Systems) are planned and executed to the best interest of the business.
• Responsible for Asset and Inventory management.
• Develop and maintain method statements, standard operating procedures, emergency response procedures, preventive maintenance programs, and all technical documentation.
• Ensure standardization and consistency with best‑in‑class operating practices (Technical Writing Skills and Automation).
• Develop and deliver the regular engineering reports and ensure adherence to contracted deliverables including SLAs and KPIs.
• Provide hands‑on facility support where required (e.g., installation of new equipment, decommissioning of equipment, replacement of faulty equipment, internal audits).
• Oversee technical compliance auditing and the effective and timely close‑out of corrective action plans.

Incident and Emergency Response

• Managing information flow during incidents while providing regular updates to management.
• Reviewing incident reports, documenting periodic trend summaries, and providing updates and recommended actions to management.

About the team

You’ll be working with highly technical Data Center teams including cross‑functional teams looking after various aspects of a data center, in order to maintain 100% uptime for the customers.

Basic Qualifications

• 4+ years of relevant work in a data center or other critical environment experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• 4+ years of data center or mission critical facilities (example: hospital, military facility, public safety facility, etc.) experience.
• Knowledge of electrical systems in critical Data Center operations that include but are not limited to utility substation feeds, transformers, switchgear, VFI Class UPS, DRUPS, PDUs, ATS, STS, SLA/VRLA batteries and associated systems, diesel/gas turbine generators and related fuel systems, Surge Suppression, Active Harmonic Filtering, battery monitoring systems, branch circuit monitoring systems or SCADA systems.
• Knowledge of mechanical systems in critical Data Center operations including but not limited to CRAC/CRAHs/AHUs, chillers, cooling towers, storage tanks, chemical systems, heat exchangers, piping systems, pumps, valves, duct systems, fans, or dampers.
