Job summary

Amazon Data Services India Private Limited (ADSIPL) in Maharashtra is seeking an experienced Data Center Operations Engineer to oversee critical facilities and support 24x7 uptime. You will coordinate with cross‑functional teams, manage changes and incidents for Electrical/Mechanical systems, and drive maintenance programs while ensuring safety and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Own all Data Center changes, events, incidents, and problems end to end, overseeing investigation, root cause analysis, and follow‑up resolution actions.
• Ensuring maintenance and repairs of Electrical/Mechanical/Fire Suppression Systems are planned and executed to the best interest of the business.
• Asset and inventory management.
• Development and maintenance of method statements, standard operating procedures, emergency response procedures, preventive maintenance programs, and all technical documentation.
• Ensuring standardization and consistency with best‑in‑class operating practices, including technical writing and automation.
• Development and delivery of regular engineering reports and adherence to contracted deliverables, including SLAs and KPIs.
• Providing hands‑on facility support where required (e.g., installation of new equipment, decommissioning, replacement of faulty equipment, internal audits).
• Overseeing technical compliance auditing and timely close‑out of corrective action plans.

Amazon is expanding the Data Center management team in India. This position within Amazon Data Services India Private Limited (ADSIPL) requires broad Data Center knowledge with subject matter expertise in as many specific fields as possible. The location for this job will be discussed, as there may be opportunities in several India locations.

This position serves as the primary operational resource to support ADSIPL within its owned and operated Data Centers in India. It is a central point of ownership and accountability for the overall hands‑on management of the Mechanical, Electrical (M&E) and other critical infrastructure across ADSIPL’s portfolio of Data Centers in India. Responsibilities include operation and maintenance of critical infrastructure, event management, incident management, problem management, change management, cost/contract management, and relationship management with landlords, facility vendors, construction teams, operations teams, technical program managers, security, and logistics in India. The role requires 24×7 on‑call, scheduled weekend support, and rotational shifts.

Key Job Responsibilities

Operations And Maintenance

• Ownership of all Data Center changes, events, incidents, and problems from beginning to end, overseeing investigation, root cause analysis, and follow‑up resolution actions.
• Ensuring maintenance and repairs of Electrical/Mechanical/Fire Suppression Systems are planned and executed to the best interest of the business.
• Asset and inventory management.
• Development and maintenance of method statements, standard operating procedures, emergency response procedures, preventive maintenance programs, and all technical documentation.
• Ensuring standardization and consistency with best‑in‑class operating practices, including technical writing and automation.
• Development and delivery of regular engineering reports and adherence to contracted deliverables, including SLAs and KPIs.
• Providing hands‑on facility support where required (e.g., installation of new equipment, decommissioning, replacement of faulty equipment, internal audits).
• Overseeing technical compliance auditing and timely close‑out of corrective action plans.

Incident And Emergency Response

• Managing information flow during incidents while providing regular updates to management.
• Reviewing incident reports, documenting periodic trend summaries, and providing updates and recommended actions to management.

About The Team

You’ll be working with highly technical Data Center teams, including cross‑functional ones looking after various aspects of a data center, in order to maintain 100% uptime for the customers.

Basic Qualifications

• 4+ years of relevant work in a data center or other critical environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

• 4+ years of data center or mission‑critical facilities experience (e.g., hospital, military facility, public safety facility).
• Knowledge of electrical systems in critical Data Center operations including utility substation feeds, transformers, switchgear, UPS, generators, diesel/gas turbine generators, fuel systems, surge suppression, active harmonic filtering, battery monitoring systems, branch circuit monitoring systems, or SCADA systems.
• Knowledge of mechanical systems in critical Data Center operations including CRAC/CRAHs/AHUs, chillers, cooling towers, storage tanks, chemical systems, heat exchangers, piping systems, pumps, valves, duct systems, fans, or dampers.
