Role Overview

As the DC Operations Manager, you will be the linchpin of our high‑frequency trading operations, ensuring optimal performance of our production clusters. Your role is crucial in managing on‑site operations, optimising infrastructure, and driving innovation in our state‑of‑the‑art trading environments. You will also be responsible for leading infrastructure projects, ensuring seamless scalability, and enhancing system efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Data Center Operations & Coordination

• Manage the day‑to‑day operations in our data centers.
• Ensure seamless coordination of on‑site tasks, including hardware installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Maintain the smooth functioning of trading infrastructure to minimize downtime and maximise operational efficiency.

Infrastructure & Project Ownership

• Drive infrastructure‑related projects end‑to‑end, from planning and resource allocation to implementation and post‑deployment reviews.
• Lead initiatives to scale, optimise, and upgrade infrastructure in line with business and trading growth.
• Take ownership of timelines, budgets, and cross‑functional coordination.

Hardware and Software Deployment

• Oversee the setup and initial installation of all hardware and software.
• Ensure systems are operational and optimised for trading performance.
• Configure servers, network devices, and storage systems to meet the demanding requirements of high‑frequency trading.

Health Monitoring and Reporting

• Monitor and report on the health of hardware deployed in our data centres.
• Use monitoring tools, analyse performance metrics, and provide regular status updates to relevant stakeholders.
• Identify and address potential issues before they impact trading operations.

Rack Management and Verification

• Verify rack configurations after any changes or maintenance activities.
• Ensure proper cable management, airflow optimisation, and correct labelling to maintain an organised and efficient data centre environment.

Inventory Management

• Maintain accurate records of server inflow and outflow.
• Track hardware assets, manage spare parts, and ensure necessary equipment availability.

Vendor Management

• Manage vendor relationships, including placing orders and negotiating terms.
• Avoid bottlenecks in the supply chain and ensure timely delivery of hardware and services.

Cross‑functional Collaboration

• Work closely with software developers and system administrators to ensure smooth operations in colocations and data centres.
• Understand the technical requirements of trading systems and implement necessary infrastructure.

Process Improvement and Automation

• Identify areas for optimisation and propose solutions.
• Implement automated processes to enhance efficiency and reduce manual interventions.

Capacity Planning

• Plan for future data centre capacity needs to support the company's growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field from a top‑tier institution.
• 10+ years of experience in managing large‑scale data centre or infrastructure operations.
• Proven experience in leading cross‑functional infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of server hardware, network equipment, and data centre design principles.
• Hands‑on experience with automation tools, scripting, and monitoring systems.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and aptitude for understanding complex systems.
