Job summary

Ericsson GmbH in Ahmedabad, India is seeking a Data Center Engineer to manage, maintain, and deploy the physical infrastructure within the data centre. The role covers both build and operational support to ensure reliability and performance.

You will handle incident tickets on-site, perform asset and inventory management, and collaborate with customers, vendors, and internal teams while adhering to safety and MOPs. Flexibility for shifts is required and English communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in remote troubleshooting and ability to operate effectively in a service desk or data centre environment.
• Willingness to work during non-business hours or in shifts as required by operational needs.
• Strong technical expertise in data centre operations and IT infrastructure, including servers, switches, routers, cabling systems, and fibre optics.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and maintain physical infrastructure within a data centre environment.
• Flexible and adaptable, capable of working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Skilled in reviewing, enhancing, and maintaining Methods of Procedure (MOPs) and operational guidelines.
• Strong focus on service excellence with a customer-first mindset, leveraging multi-domain technical competence.
• Adheres strictly to approved MOPs, safety protocols, and operational instructions without deviation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively across teams and with customers.
• A proactive team player with strong interpersonal skills, able to work seamlessly with cross-functional teams.
• Capable of handling multiple priorities and engaging with both customers and internal stakeholders under high-pressure situations.
• Proficient in spoken and written English to support effective communication in global environments.

Responsibilities

• Fix incidents in the data centre with on-site visits.
• Update tickets with logs and meet SLAs.
• Escalate abnormalities to central project team.
• Manage on-site assets and reporting.
• Conduct site audits per official guidelines.
• Manage site spare inventory and reporting.
• Provide remote support to on-site engineers.
• Support other projects within META program.
• Install and commission compute and network racks.
• Lay fibre and copper cabling, termination, labeling, and dressing.
• Install and configure network and compute devices.
• Verify material receipt and inventory.
• Troubleshoot hardware, link, and connectivity issues.
• Engage with customers, vendors, and internal teams for issue resolution.

About this opportunity:

The Data Center Engineer is responsible for the management, maintenance, and deployment of the physical infrastructure within the data centre. This role involves both building and operational support activities to ensure optimal data centre performance and reliability.

What you will do

Operational activities (not limited to):

• Work on tickets assigned to fix incidents in the data centre on-site visit is required
• Timely updates with accurate work logs to be updated in ticketing tool.
• Meet all agreed SLA’s with the Customer.
• Immediately escalateto the central project team any abnormal situation in the data centre concerning Ericsson equipment at site.
• Asset Management onsite at the data centre and reporting
• Site audit conducted as per the official guidelines
• Site spare inventory management and reporting
• Remote support to the onsite engineer to solve the issue
• Support other projects within META program.

Build activities (Not limited to):

• Installation and commissioning of compute and network racks.
• Fibre and copper cable laying, termination, labelling, and dressing.
• Installation and configuration support for network and compute devices.
• Material receipt, verification, and inventory management.
• Performing troubleshooting for hardware, link, and connectivity issues.
• Engaging with customers, vendors, and internal teams for issue resolution.
