Qualifications

  • Experience: 3–5 years in managing advanced technical labs or R&D projects.
  • Background in IoT, embedded systems, automation, robotics, or CPS tech.
  • Hands-on programming: Python, C/C++, MATLAB; troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong organizational and inventory management abilities.
  • Ability to mentor students and guide research activities.
  • Good communication and coordination with IIT Ropar and external stakeholders.
  • Performance focus on lab uptime, projects, and joint initiatives with partners.

Responsibilities

  • Laboratory Operations & Management: plan, supervise daily CPS Lab operations.
  • Maintain equipment/inventory and schedule sessions for courses, workshops, and projects.
  • Coordinate lab activities with i-AWaDH, IIT Ropar and research teams.
  • Technical Support & Infrastructure: oversee CPS hardware/software setup and maintenance.
  • Monitor security for devices and cloud services; coordinate upgrades with vendors.
  • Academic & Research Facilitation: assist faculty/students in experiments and prototyping.
  • Prepare SOPs and technical documentation; support labs safety and compliance.
  • Safety, Compliance & Quality: implement lab safety protocols, audits, and reports.

Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) Lab In-charge

MIET is the first private engineering institution in the UT of J&K. The institution is accredited by NAAC with an A grade and recognised as an autonomous institution by the University Grants Commission, University of Jammu and the State Higher Education Department of J&K.

Job Description

The CPS Lab In-charge will oversee the operations, technical management, and academic support of the newly established Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) Laboratory, developed in collaboration with i-AWaDH, IIT Ropar. The role requires ensuring smooth functioning of all equipment, facilitating research and innovation, and providing technical guidance to faculty, students, and research teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Laboratory Operations & Management

    Plan and supervise day-to-day operations of the CPS Lab.

    Maintain an updated inventory of all equipment, components, and software tools received through the i-AWaDH collaboration.

    Schedule and coordinate lab sessions for courses, workshops, and research projects.

    Ensure smooth execution of joint activities and projects with i-AWaDH, IIT Ropar.

  • Technical Support & Infrastructure Maintenance

    Oversee installation, configuration, and maintenance of CPS-related hardware (sensors, controllers, IoT devices, robotics kits, etc.) and software platforms.

    Monitor network and system security for connected devices and cloud-based services.

    Coordinate with vendors and i-AWaDH technical teams for repairs, upgrades, or procurement of new equipment.

  • Academic & Research Facilitation

    Assist faculty and research scholars in conducting experiments and prototype development in areas like IoT, robotics, automation, and AI-driven CPS.

    Support student projects, hackathons, and innovation challenges aligned with the i-AWaDH initiatives.

    Prepare lab manuals, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and technical documentation.

  • Safety, Compliance & Quality

    Implement and monitor lab safety protocols for electronics, robotics, and high-voltage equipment.

    Ensure compliance with institutional, i-AWaDH, and regulatory guidelines.

    Maintain proper documentation for audits, equipment usage, and safety inspections.

    Serve as the primary point of contact between the institute and i-AWaDH, IIT Ropar.

    Prepare periodic reports on lab utilization, research outputs, and project progress.

    Facilitate workshops, industry-academia collaborations, and outreach activities.

Requirements
  • Qualifications & Experience

    Education: Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.

    Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience in managing advanced technical laboratories or R&D projects.

    Strong background in IoT, embedded systems, automation, robotics, or related CPS technologies.

    Hands‑on experience with programming (Python, C/C++, MATLAB) and relevant CPS tools/platforms.

    Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.

    Strong organizational and inventory management skills.

    Ability to mentor students and guide research activities.

    Good communication and coordination skills for working with IIT Ropar and external stakeholders.

  • Performance Indicators:

    Operational uptime and readiness of the CPS lab.

    Number and quality of student/research projects supported.

    Successful coordination of joint initiatives with i-AWaDH, IIT Ropar.

    Timely maintenance and enhancement of lab infrastructure.
