Job summary

Embark is seeking an Assistant Manager – Data Protection & Privacy to join the Cyber Risk team in Bengaluru. The role involves designing privacy frameworks, assessing privacy risks, and advising clients on data protection obligations under applicable laws and regulations.

Key duties include policy development, DPIA guidance, risk assessments, governance, and monitoring of processing activities. Collaboration with internal teams to promote best practices and staying updated on regulatory changes

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, IT, or related discipline.
• 4–10 years of experience in data protection, privacy, or compliance.
• Strong knowledge of India’s Personal Data Protection framework.

Responsibilities

• Develop data protection policies and procedures in line with privacy laws and regulations.
• Conduct privacy risk assessments and define mitigation strategies based on client requirements.
• Monitor data processing activities to ensure compliance with data protection laws and internal policies.
• Provide guidance on DPIAs, privacy impact assessments, risk assessments, and data governance.
• Design and implement privacy and security frameworks, processes and controls for clients.
• Recommend practical and innovative privacy solutions and support stakeholder discussions.
• Define privacy metrics and dashboards for monitoring and reporting.
• Maintain records of data processing activities and data protection compliance documentation.
• Collaborate with internal teams to promote awareness of data protection policies and best practices.
• Stay updated on global developments in data protection and privacy regulations and update frameworks accordingly.
• Support proposal development, engagement documentation, and internal risk formalities.

The Assistant Manager – Data Protection & Privacy will be part of the Cyber Risk team and will support clients in meeting data protection and privacy compliance requirements. The role involves designing privacy frameworks, assessing privacy risks, and advising clients on data protection obligations under applicable laws and regulations.

• Develop data protection policies and procedures in line with applicable privacy laws and regulations
  

• Conduct data privacy and protection risk assessments and define mitigation strategies as per client requirements.
  

• Monitor and evaluate data processing activities to ensure compliance with data protection laws and internal policies
  

• Provide guidance on Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), privacy impact assessments, risk assessments, and data governance
  

• Design and implement privacy and security frameworks, processes, and controls for clients
  

• Recommend practical and innovative privacy solutions and support stakeholder discussions.
  

• Define privacy metrics and dashboards for monitoring and reporting
  

• Maintain records of data processing activities and data protection compliance documentation

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Information Technology, or a related discipline
  

• Minimum 4- 10 years of experience in data protection, privacy, or compliance roles
  

• Strong knowledge of data protection laws and regulations, including India’s Personal Data Protection framework
  

• Professional certifications such as CIPT, CIPM, CIPPE, or equivalent preferred
  

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and risk assessment capabilities
  

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
