Job summary

Tata Communications Limited is seeking a Network Migration Engineer to perform migrations and change management on customer circuits (IP/MPLS) during planned events, ensuring timely completion with proper pre-checks and post-checks. You will test L3/L2 VPNs and Internet services, troubleshoot post-migration issues, and may work in shifts.

Experience with Cisco, Alcatel Lucent, Huawei and Juniper devices is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering/Technology or equivalent in Telecommunication/Computers.
• 2+ years of networking experience in a service provider environment.
• Solid knowledge of IP/MPLS and MPLS-based VPNs; strong fundamentals in routing and switching.

Responsibilities

• Perform migrations and change management on customer circuits (IP/MPLS) during planned events and downtimes with pre/post checks.
• Test L3 VPN/L2 VPN/Internet services against deliverable parameters after configuration or migration.
• Troubleshoot and resolve post-migration issues when pre/post checks do not match.
• Work in shifts as per planned activity schedules.

Position Summary

Key Objective / Purpose Of The Job

The key objective of the position is -

To perform migrations and change managements on the existing customer circuits (IP/MPLS services) during critical planned events and downtimes, ensuring the activity completion with proper pre-check post-check in stipulated time frames.

The position is also responsible for testing the configured/migrated customer services L3 VPN/ L2 VPN/ Internet to the deliverable parameters.

Troubleshooting & resolving any post migration issues if service pre-check post-check not matching.

May have to work in Shifts depending on Planned Activity schedules.

The above mentioned configuration and testing of services to be done on primarily on Cisco ,Alcatel Lucent , Huawei & Juniper devices.

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications:

Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor of Engineering/Technology (Telecommunication/ Computers) or equivalent degree with min. 2 yrs of experience.

Requisite Skills

Technical

Sound knowledge of IP/MPLS and MPLS based VPNs. Excellent knowledge of Network Fundamentals, Routing protocols (Static, BGP,OSPF) and Switching. Configuration and troubleshooting skills on Cisco and Alcatel Lucent routers is a must. Network device configuration and maintenance experience of at least 2 years in an organization of repute.

Work Experience

Should have worked in a service provider s environment where network device configuration, migration and maintenance would have been a Core activity. Familiarity with Cisco Router/Switches & Acatel Lucent 7750 SR devices and configurations is must. Exposure to IP/MPLS and MPLS based VPNs is desirable. CCNA certifications or equivalent Alcatel Lucent would be an added advantage.

2 years experience in Networking field.
