Job summary

Applied Materials in Bengaluru, India, seeks a Field Service Engineer to support installation, maintenance, and upgrades of customer equipment across APAC.

You will work with senior engineers, use digital analytics for troubleshooting, and perform preventative and corrective maintenance on various systems. The role requires travel up to 75% within the APAC region and readiness to meet on-site safety and customer protocols.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience, or trade certification
  • 2–7 years of work experience in customer/field service support, or a related technical field
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics
  • Experience diagnosing and resolving basic technical challenges
  • Basic mechanical aptitude with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, or thermodynamics
  • Familiarity with hand tools and their appropriate usage, including digital multimeters
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills; valid driver’s license and passport if travel is required; MS Office basics

Key Responsibilities


  • Collaborate with Senior Field Service Engineers [Customer Engineers] in installing, maintaining, and upgrading customer equipment

  • Use digital analytics for troubleshooting

  • Apply basic diagnostic techniques to assess equipment and address technical issues, with guidance from Senior Field Service Engineers [Customer Engineers]

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems (training provided)

  • Coordinate and communicate directly with customers

  • Participate in projects/assignments in meeting organization goals

  • Fulfill additional duties, as assigned


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Completion of an Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience, or trade certification

  • 2 - 7 years of work experience in customer/field service support, or a related technical field

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics

  • Experience diagnosing and resolving basic technical challenges

  • Basic mechanical aptitude with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, or thermodynamics

  • Familiarity with hand tools and their appropriate usage, including digital multimeters

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Possession of a valid drivers license and the ability to obtain a passport, if travel is required.

  • Able to meet all on-site requirements, including safety, environmental guidelines, and customer/Applied protocols


Preferred Qualifications:


  • 2-7 years of work experience in customer/field service support, or a related technical field

  • Associate degree in electronics or engineering technologies

  • Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, or thermodynamics

  • Familiarity with hand tools and their appropriate usage, including digital multimeters


75% of travel (Within APAC region) is expected in this job.
