Job summary

Rai Bahadur Seth Shreeram Narasingdas Private Limi Ted is seeking a Cost Accountant to manage standard costing for materials, WIP, and finished goods, and to conduct variance analysis against budgets. You will support pricing decisions through cost sheets and profitability reviews, and assist in budgeting and forecasts.

Role requires SAP CO/PC expertise, CMA or equivalent qualification, and a minimum of two years in costing within manufacturing sectors.

Qualifications

• CMA or equivalent qualification mandatory.
• Professional working knowledge of SAP CO/PC module is required.
• Minimum 2+ years of costing/budgeting experience in steel/mining/manufacturing sectors preferred.
• Strong MS Excel skills for cost sheets, variance analysis and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Perform periodic variance analysis (standard vs actual) for material, labour and overhead costs.

• Assist in annual budgeting and periodic cost forecasts; monitor spend vs budget.
• Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities across direct and indirect costs.
• Maintain inventory valuation and reconciliation with stores and production teams.
• Prepare monthly costing MIS reports, cost audits, and support statutory cost audits.
• Collaborate with production, stores and finance in SAP to ensure accurate cost data.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain standard costing for raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods (pellets, iron ore, by-products).
• Conduct periodic variance analysis (standard vs. actual) covering material, labour, and overhead costs, and report deviations to management.
• Support pricing decisions by preparing product cost sheets and profitability analysis.
• Assist in preparation of annual budgets and periodic cost forecasts; track actual spend against budget.
• Identify cost reduction and cost control opportunities across direct costs (material, labour, overheads) and indirect costs (admin, marketing, distribution).
• Maintain inventory valuation and reconciliation in coordination with stores and production teams.
• Prepare monthly costing MIS reports, cost audits, and support statutory cost audit requirements (Cost Records / CRA-3 as applicable).
• Work closely with production, stores, and finance teams to ensure accurate cost data capture in SAP.
• Support internal and statutory audits with costing schedules and reconciliations.

Preferred candidate profile

• CMA (Cost & Management Accountant) or equivalent professional qualification mandatory. CMA-Inter/Semi-qualified candidates with strong industry costing experience may also be considered.
• Professional working knowledge of SAP, specifically the Controlling (CO) / Product Costing (CO-PC) module — mandatory.
• Minimum 2+ years of experience in costing and budgeting, preferably in steel, mining, or manufacturing industries.
• Strong working knowledge of MS Excel for cost sheets, variance analysis, and reporting.
• Good understanding of standard costing, inventory valuation, and cost audit requirements.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to coordinate across production, stores, and finance functions.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced plant environment and meet reporting deadlines.
