Job summary

The Talent Keepers in Mumbai seeks an experienced Commercial Cost Manager to oversee all cost and contract management activities from award through project completion. You will monitor budgets, prepare forecasts, and drive cost reporting while assessing variations and claims for timely settlements.

Responsibilities include reviewing measurements, valuing interim payments, and maintaining robust change-control processes to safeguard project financials and ensure contractual compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage cost and commercial activities from contract award through project completion.
  • Monitor project expenditure against approved budgets and contract values.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed cost reports and cost forecasts.
  • Track committed, actual and forecast project costs.
  • Identify potential cost overruns and recommend corrective actions.
  • Review contractor measurements, quantities and interim payment applications.
  • Certify / support interim payment valuations in accordance with contract terms.
  • Review BOQs, quantities and rates against executed works.
  • Ensure accurate measurement and valuation of civil works.
  • Identify, evaluate and manage variations / change orders.
  • Assess the commercial impact of design and scope changes.
  • Review contractor variation submissions, rates and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain variation and change-control registers.
  • Negotiate and recommend appropriate commercial settlements.
  • Review contractor claims related to variations, delays, extensions of time, loss & cost and additional costs.
  • Analyse contractual entitlement and financial impact.
  • Coordinate with Project Management, Planning and Contracts teams on claims.
  • Support resolution of commercial disputes and negotiations.
  • Prepare monthly cost reports, cash-flow forecasts and cost-to-complete reports.
  • Track project budget, committed costs, variations and forecast final cost.
  • Provide management with clear visibility of commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Highlight cost trends and potential financial exposure.
  • Review contract conditions, BOQ, specifications and commercial provisions.
  • Ensure commercial activities are carried out in line with contractual requirements.
  • Support contract correspondence and commercial documentation.
  • Coordinate with Legal / Contracts teams wherever required.
  • Review subcontractor / contractor commercial proposals.
  • Support procurement and commercial evaluation of packages.
  • Review subcontractor payments, variations and final accounts.
  • Ensure commercial alignment between main contract and subcontract packages.
  • Lead / support preparation and settlement of final accounts.
  • Reconcile contract value, variations, payments and outstanding claims.
  • Ensure all commercial documentation is completed before project close-out.
  • Support commercial handover and lessons-learned activities.

Key Responsibilities
1. Post-Contract Cost Management
  • Manage cost and commercial activities fromcontract award through project completion.

3. Variation & Change Management
  • Identify, evaluate and managevariations / change orders.
  • Assess the commercial impact of design and scope changes.

8. Final Account & Project Close-Out
  • Lead / support preparation and settlement offinal accounts.
  • Reconcile contract value, variations, payments and outstanding claims.
  • Ensure all commercial documentation is completed before project close-out.
  • Support commercial handover and lessons-learned activities.
