Tata Electronics Private Limited (TEPL) is a greenfield venture of the Tata Group with expertise in manufacturing precision components.
Tata Electronics (a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Sons Pvt. Ltd.) is building India’s first AI-enabled state-of-the-advanced Semiconductor Foundry. This facility will produce chips for applications such as power management IC, display drivers, microcontrollers (MCU) and high-performance computing logic, addressing the growing demand in markets such as automotive, computing and data storage, wireless communications and artificial intelligence.

Responsibilities
- Own capex architecture and investment planning activities across customer bid opportunities, ensuring solutions are technically and commercially optimized.
- Lead the assigned bid workstream, integrate subject matter expert inputs, and present recommendations during management review and approval gates.
- Develop bottom-up should-cost models for equipment, tooling, automation, manufacturing infrastructure, and supporting capital investments.
- Perform scenario modeling, sensitivity analysis, and investment trade-off studies to support strategic bid decisions.
- Conduct make-versus-buy evaluations, including technical, operational, and financial assessments supported by NPV, IRR, and payback analysis.
- Review and approve the technical basis of estimate prior to submission into proposal costing and bid management processes.
- Review RFQs, customer specifications, drawings, BOMs, standards, and technical data packages to identify gaps, risks, assumptions, and clarification requirements.
- Develop structured customer clarification lists and convert incomplete RFQ inputs into explicit assumptions, dependencies, exclusions, and closure actions.
- Define workstream solutions, basis of estimates, implementation approaches, assumptions, risks, mitigation plans, and technical dependencies.
- Develop estimates for quantities, cycle times, resource loading, equipment and tooling requirements, NRE, capex, lead times, and implementation milestones.
- Assess equipment sourcing strategies and evaluate lead-time exposure for both standard and custom-built manufacturing equipment.
Essential Attributes:
- Capital expenditure planning, equipment investment strategy, and manufacturing infrastructure cost modeling.
- Development of bottom-up should-cost models for manufacturing equipment, automation systems, tooling, fixtures, and production assets.
- Financial evaluation techniques including NPV analysis, IRR calculations, payback analysis, return-on-investment assessment, and business case development.
- Scenario modeling, sensitivity analysis, investment trade studies, and make-versus-buy decision frameworks.
- RFQ decomposition, requirements analysis, compliance matrix development, and requirements traceability management.
- Bid strategy development, proposal governance, solution storytelling, executive presentations, and customer clarification management.
- Integrated planning, RAID management, risk assessment, change management, and configuration control.
- Commercial evaluation of cost structures, schedules, contractual obligations, lead-time risks, and investment decisions.
- Equipment sizing, manufacturing capacity planning, resource loading analysis, cycle-time calculations, and implementation scheduling.
- Supplier evaluation, quotation analysis, sourcing strategy development, and technical-commercial recommendation preparation.
- Experience with ERP systems, PLM platforms, BOM management, document repositories, and controlled bid content environments.
- Strong analytical, financial modeling, structured problem-solving, and evidence-based decision-making capabilities.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, negotiation, and customer presentation skills.
- Proven capability to lead multidisciplinary teams across engineering, operations, quality, sourcing, finance, supply chain, and supplier organizations.
- Strong ownership mindset, attention to detail, and ability to consistently deliver high-quality outputs against fixed bid deadlines.
Desired Experience Level:
- 10-15 years of relevant experience in costing, capital expenditure planning, bid management, manufacturing industrialization, NPI, engineering, or related functions within EMS or complex manufacturing environments.
- Demonstrated experience supporting customer RFQs, technical proposals, manufacturing industrialization initiatives, and investment planning activities.
- Proven track record of leading multidisciplinary teams and delivering evidence-based technical and commercial recommendations.
- Ability to work effectively with global customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams across multiple time zones.
- Willingness to travel for customer workshops, supplier reviews, equipment trials, and program reviews as required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with customer-facing presentation capabilities.
Qualifications:
- B.E./B.Tech in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- MBA or Postgraduate qualification in Operations Management, Finance, or a related discipline preferred.
