Job summary

Tata Electronics Private Limited (TEPL) is a Tata Group greenfield venture building India’s first AI-enabled semiconductor foundry. The RF engineering role focuses on RF design ownership, antenna tuning, impedance matching, OTA performance validation, and regulatory compliance to meet customer specs and standards.

You will collaborate with Product, Manufacturing, Test, Operations, and Supply Chain teams, drive NPI readiness, and contribute to robust design verification and cost estimation for

Tata Electronics Private Limited (TEPL) is a greenfield venture of the Tata Group with expertise in manufacturing precision components.

Tata Electronics (a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Sons Pvt. Ltd.) is building India’s first AI-enabled state-of-the-art Semiconductor Foundry. This facility will produce chips for applications such as power management ICs, display drivers, microcontrollers (MCUs), and high-performance computing logic, addressing the growing demand across automotive, computing and data storage, wireless communications, and artificial intelligence markets.

Space

Responsibilities:

RFQ Review & Technical Assessment

• Review RFQs, drawings, specifications, BOMs, data packages, and customer standards to identify gaps and develop structured clarification lists.
• Evaluate RF design requirements, regulatory compliance expectations, manufacturability considerations, and technical feasibility of proposed solutions.

RF Design & Validation Ownership

• Own RF design and validation activities, including antenna tuning, matching network review, impedance analysis, and RF performance optimization.
• Assess conducted and radiated RF performance to ensure compliance with product requirements and customer specifications.
• Evaluate Over-The-Air (OTA) performance parameters including Total Radiated Power (TRP) and Total Isotropic Sensitivity (TIS).

Regulatory & Compliance Assessment

• Develop and review 3GPP and regulatory test mapping requirements.
• Ensure RF designs align with applicable wireless communication standards, certification requirements, and customer expectations.
• Support chamber-to-production fixture correlation activities to establish robust and repeatable manufacturing test methodologies.
• Define workstream solutions, basis of estimate, assumptions, exclusions, dependencies, risks, and mitigation plans.
• Identify RF design, validation, manufacturing, and compliance risks and provide evidence-based recommendations.

Technical Proposal & Costing Support

• Develop estimates for resource loading, equipment requirements, NRE costs, CapEx investments, validation activities, lead-time planning, and implementation milestones.
• Prepare technical calculations, compliance matrices, proposal narratives, costing models, and management approval documentation.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Collaborate with Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Test Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, and Customer teams to ensure technically feasible and executable solutions.
• Challenge unsupported assumptions and reconcile inconsistencies across RF, electrical, process, test, quality, automation, and supply chain workstreams.
• Support supplier technical evaluations, quotation reviews, and make-versus-buy assessments.
• Participate in customer clarification meetings, solution reviews, Red Team reviews, and Gold Team reviews to ensure proposal readiness and closure of assigned actions.

NPI & Volume Manufacturing Readiness

• Drive RF design transfer activities into NPI and volume manufacturing.
• Define RF validation plans, acceptance criteria, qualification requirements, and key deliverables required for successful production launch.
• Ensure manufacturing readiness through alignment of RF verification methods and production testing strategies.

Governance & Continuous Improvement

• Maintain controlled templates, lessons learned, RF engineering databases, and reusable estimation data for future bids and programs.
• Ensure compliance with Tata Electronics information security, confidentiality, quality, and document control requirements.
• Strong expertise in RF design, antenna tuning, impedance matching, and RF performance optimization.
• Experience in matching network design, conducted and radiated RF testing, and OTA performance validation.
• Good understanding of TRP, TIS, antenna efficiency measurements, and wireless communication system performance evaluation.
• Experience supporting 3GPP, wireless regulatory certification, and RF compliance assessment activities.
• Knowledge of chamber testing methodologies and chamber-to-production fixture correlation processes.
• Strong understanding of DFM/DFx principles, electrical risk assessment, and product validation planning.
• Experience in product lifecycle management, engineering change control, configuration management, and release governance.
• Proven experience supporting customer RFQs, technical proposals, NPI programs, or manufacturing industrialization projects within EMS or complex product environments.
• Ability to identify technical risks, develop validation plans, and provide data-driven recommendations.
• Strong communication, presentation, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work effectively with global customers and suppliers across multiple time zones.
• Willingness to travel for customer workshops, supplier reviews, equipment trials, and program reviews as required.

Qualifications:

• B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), RF Engineering, Microwave Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Postgraduate specialization in RF/Microwave Engineering, Wireless Communications, Antenna Design, Telecommunications, or a related field is preferred.

Desired Experience Level:

• 8-12 years of experience in RF Engineering, Wireless Product Development, RF Validation, Product Engineering, NPI, Manufacturing Industrialization, or related engineering functions within EMS, Electronics Manufacturing, Telecommunications, Semiconductor, Consumer Electronics, or other complex product manufacturing environments.
