Job summary

Tata Electronics Private Limited (TEPL) is building India’s first AI-enabled semiconductor foundry, delivering precision components for power management ICs, MCUs, and AI workloads. This role focuses on capex architecture, bid management, and financial evaluation across manufacturing investments.

You will develop bottom-up cost models, perform NPV/IRR analyses, and lead cross-functional bid workstreams to optimize outcomes and schedule adherence.

Qualifications

• BE/BTech in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or related field.
• MBA or related PG qualification preferred.
• 10-15 years in costing, CAPEX planning, bid management, manufacturing industrialization, or related functions.

Responsibilities

• Own capex architecture and investment planning across bid opportunities.
• Lead the assigned bid workstream and present recommendations.
• Develop bottom-up should-cost models for equipment, tooling, automation, and infrastructure.
• Perform scenario modeling, sensitivity analysis, and trade-off studies for bids.
• Conduct make-versus-buy evaluations with NPV, IRR, and payback analysis.
• Review technical basis of estimate for proposal costing and bid management.
• Review RFQs, drawings, BOMs, and data packages to identify gaps and risks.
• Develop clarification lists and explicit assumptions for RFQ inputs.
• Define workstream solutions, estimates, milestones, and risk mitigation plans.
• Develop estimates for quantities, cycles, resources, and lead times.
• Assess equipment sourcing strategies and lead-time risks.

About The Business

Tata Electronics Private Limited (TEPL) is a greenfield venture of the Tata Group with expertise in manufacturing precision components.
Tata Electronics (a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Sons Pvt. Ltd.) is building India’s first AI-enabled state-of-the- art Semiconductor Foundry. This facility will produce chips for applications such as power management ICs, display drivers, microcontrollers (MCUs), and high-performance computing logic, addressing the growing demand across automotive, computing and data storage, wireless communications, and artificial intelligence markets.

Responsibilities

• Own capex architecture and investment planning activities across customer bid opportunities, ensuring solutions are technically and commercially optimized.
• Lead the assigned bid workstream, integrate subject matter expert inputs, and present recommendations during management review and approval gates.
• Develop bottom-up should-cost models for equipment, tooling, automation, manufacturing infrastructure, and supporting capital investments.
• Perform scenario modeling, sensitivity analysis, and investment trade-off studies to support strategic bid decisions.
• Conduct make-versus-buy evaluations, including technical, operational, and financial assessments supported by NPV, IRR, and payback analysis.
• Review and approve the technical basis of estimate prior to submission into proposal costing and bid management processes.
• Review RFQs, customer specifications, drawings, BOMs, standards, and technical data packages to identify gaps, risks, assumptions, and clarification requirements.
• Develop structured customer clarification lists and convert incomplete RFQ inputs into explicit assumptions, dependencies, exclusions, and closure actions.
• Define workstream solutions, basis of estimates, implementation approaches, assumptions, risks, mitigation plans, and technical dependencies.
• Develop estimates for quantities, cycle times, resource loading, equipment and tooling requirements, NRE, capex, lead times, and implementation milestones.
• Assess equipment sourcing strategies and evaluate lead-time exposure for both standard and custom-built manufacturing equipment.

Technical Expertise

• Capital expenditure planning, equipment investment strategy, and manufacturing infrastructure cost modeling.
• Development of bottom-up should-cost models for manufacturing equipment, automation systems, tooling, fixtures, and production assets.
• Financial evaluation techniques including NPV analysis, IRR calculations, payback analysis, return-on-investment assessment, and business case development.
• Scenario modeling, sensitivity analysis, investment trade studies, and make-versus-buy decision frameworks.
• RFQ decomposition, requirements analysis, compliance matrix development, and requirements traceability management.
• Bid strategy development, proposal governance, solution storytelling, executive presentations, and customer clarification management.
• Integrated planning, RAID management, risk assessment, change management, and configuration control.
• Commercial evaluation of cost structures, schedules, contractual obligations, lead-time risks, and investment decisions.
• Equipment sizing, manufacturing capacity planning, resource loading analysis, cycle-time calculations, and implementation scheduling.
• Supplier evaluation, quotation analysis, sourcing strategy development, and technical-commercial recommendation preparation.
• Experience with ERP systems, PLM platforms, BOM management, document repositories, and controlled bid content environments.
• Strong analytical, financial modeling, structured problem-solving, and evidence-based decision-making capabilities.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, negotiation, and customer presentation skills.
• Proven capability to lead multidisciplinary teams across engineering, operations, quality, sourcing, finance, supply chain, and supplier organizations.
• Strong ownership mindset, attention to detail, and ability to consistently deliver high-quality outputs against fixed bid deadlines.

Qualifications & Experience

• B.E./B.Tech in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• MBA or Postgraduate qualification in Operations Management, Finance, or a related discipline preferred.
• 10-15 years of relevant experience in costing, capital expenditure planning, bid management, manufacturing industrialization, NPI, engineering, or related functions within EMS or complex manufacturing environments.
