Hitachi Energy in Vadodara, India, invites applications for a Mechanical / Electrical Core, Active Part & Winding Design Engineer in the Power Transformer domain up to 345 kV. You will contribute to internal transformer design, ensure compliance with IEEE/IEC/IS standards, and collaborate with global engineering teams.

BE/BTech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and 4–10 years of hands-on design experience are required.

Qualifications

• BE/BTech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• 4–10 years in internal design of transformers (Core, Active Part & Winding) for oil-filled power transformers.
• Knowledge of CAD/3D modelling; Creo is an advantage.
• Understanding of transformer design, mechanical calculations, dielectrics, clearance, creepage, and layouts.
• Familiarity with IEEE/IEC/IS standards and Canadian standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform internal transformer design including cleats and leads meeting factory limitations and guidelines per standards.
• Understand transformer mechanical design, thermal behavior, dielectrics, short circuit and sound performance.
• Coordinate design activities within a worldwide factories network and participate in concept reviews.
• Collaborate with global technical teams and maintain compliance with regulations and guidelines.

Mechanical / Electrical Core, Active Part & Winding Design Engineer - Power Transformer

The opportunity

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Mechanical / Electrical Core, Active Part & Winding Design Engineer for the Business Unit Transformers to join our innovative and forward-thinking team in the Global Engineering Center in Vadodara, India, you will play a crucial role in the development and design of innovative products and systems that meet our customer needs and industry standards. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project specifications are met while adhering to industry standards and design best practices. Your expertise in engineering principles and practices will contribute to optimizing designs for performance, functionality, and sustainability.

• The success candidate will be the part of an International Design and Engineering Team specialized in Power Transformer up to 345 kV Class design covering different countries.
• Responsible to perform internal design of the transformer including cleats and leads meeting factory limitation, guideline, and checklist as per IEEE / IEC /IS standards.

• Understanding of Transformer mechanical design, Thermal, Dielectrics, Short circuit and sound performance and transformer mechanics

• Coordinating design activities within a worldwide factories network.
• Participation in internal design concept reviews.
• Demonstrated team building skills and networking skills, would be a preference.
• Ability to speak with and work together with the technical teams in different parts of the world.

Your background

• B.E / B. Tech Mechanical / Electrical Engineering.
• 4 to 10 Years in internal design of the transformer including Core, Active Part & Winding for oil filled, Power Transformers manufacturing Industry. Candidates with higher experience also to be considered.
• Knowledge on CAD software, any 3D Modelling software is a must. Creo is considered as an advantage.
• Should understand Transformer Design, Mechanical Calculations, Dielectrics, clearance/creepage, basic layout and cleats lead arrangement.
• Should have good understanding of IS/ IEC /IEEE Standards & Canadian Standards
• Experience in C&L design / Tank & externals is an advantage
• Experience in Simulation or software development would be advantageous.
• Experience on Microsoft office and tools.
• Ability to speak with and work together with the technical teams in different parts of the world.
• Demonstrated team building skills, would be a preference.
• Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
