Job summary

Straive in Chennai is seeking a Copy Editor to enhance readability of research articles and books, focusing on language, styling, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and reference formatting.

The role includes handling heavy math articles, complex tables and chemical equations, and ensuring compliance with Chicago/APA/CBE/AMA/MLA styles. A meticulous eye for detail and excellent English are essential.

Qualifications

• Requires 3-8 years of experience in Copy Editing / Language Editing of journals/books with high emphasis on quality.
• Sound knowledge of copy editing concepts.
• Familiar with publisher's house style and journal specifications.
• Excellent command of English (written and verbal).
• Strong grammar, especially subject–verb agreement.
• Flexible to work in rotational shift.
• Proficiency in MS Office suite: Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
• Mastery of journal styles and usage.

Copy editors are the most important link between the author and the readers giving final touch to the book/journal article in terms of its content by paying attention to language, styling, spelling, grammar, punctuation, headings, styling and formatting of references. Indexing work, if known, is an added advantage.
