The Content QC Specialist is responsible for reviewing and validating all website landing pages, blog posts, and social media content before publication to ensure it is accurate, compliant, brand-consistent, and optimized for SEO. This role acts as the final quality gate between content creation and publishing, cross-checking every piece of content against the organization's content QC and on-page SEO checklists to eliminate factual errors, inconsistent data claims, non-compliant messaging, and formatting mistakes.
Key Responsibilities
Data Accuracy & Consistency
- Verify that all data-related claims, counts, and statistics mentioned in content match current internal data records and are consistent across every page.
- Ensure approved phrasing and formatting conventions for data figures and quantities are applied consistently, and flag any deviation from company standards.
- Validate that data updates communicated by internal stakeholders are reflected accurately across all relevant pages in a timely manner.
Compliance & Regulatory Review
- Ensure all compliance and regulatory terminology referenced in content is accurate, current, and used only where applicable to the relevant industry or audience.
- Confirm that industry-specific regulatory mentions appear only on pages relevant to that industry and are excluded elsewhere.
- Track and correct outdated or superseded terminology across the site as internal standards evolve.
- Verify that content stays aligned with the specific communication channel it describes, avoiding cross-channel inconsistencies.
- Apply the organization's approved style and terminology guidelines, replacing non-preferred words and phrases with approved alternatives.
- Ensure geographic and coverage-related content follows standardized, brand-approved language.
- Confirm mandatory DISCLAIMERS and legal notices appear exactly as approved wherever required.
- Check that industry codes, technical terms, and supported product/service specifications are presented accurately and consistently, with no unapproved additions.
- Proofread all content for spelling, grammar, and formatting accuracy.
- Confirm FAQ and heading formatting follow brand style guidelines and that required/updated FAQ content is present across applicable pages.
On-Page SEO Quality Control
- Verify that primary and secondary keywords are placed correctly across meta tags, headers, and body content per the organization's SEO guidelines.
- Confirm keyword density and placement follow best practices without resulting in keyword stuffing.
- Ensure supporting keywords (LSI, long-tail, semantic) are naturally incorporated where relevant.
- Validate meta titles and meta descriptions against approved length and character-limit standards.
- Ensure heading tags (H1, H2, etc.) meet structural and character-limit guidelines.
- Confirm paragraph length and structure follow readability standards, including guidelines on keyword distribution per paragraph.
- Check that internal linking and image alt-text guidelines are correctly implemented.
- Confirm brand name usage follows frequency guidelines and that key content elements (product description, audience, pain points, guarantees, etc.) appear in the appropriate section of the page.
- Assess content readability and structuring for both traditional search engines and AI/LLM-based platforms.
Process & Reporting
- Maintain and update internal QC standards as new guidelines, terminology, or compliance requirements are introduced.
- Log recurring errors and share constructive feedback with content writers and designers to reduce repeat issues.
- Run plagiarism and AI-content detection checks prior to publishing.
- Coordinate with SEO, design, and web development teams to resolve flagged issues before go-live.
- Track outstanding QC action items through to closure and elevate blockers as needed.
