Position Title : Consultant SAP ABAP

Function: Enterprise Operations Portfolio Managed Services

Location: Bengaluru

Role Summary

As an experienced SAP ABAP Consultant at BPL Medical Technologies, you will be responsible for individually delivering high-quality work products within committed timelines. On a need basis, you will mentor and/or direct junior team members and liaise with onsite/offshore teams to understand functional requirements.

Key Responsibilities

As a Consultant on the Managed Services – Enterprise Operations Portfolio team, you will support SAP technical design, development, testing, and documentation across implementation and support engagements.

• Design, build, and test reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, forms, and workflows across SAP process areas, including S/4HANA-specific development
• Develop and optimize custom applications using ABAP on HANA, CDS Views, AMDP, and OData services to support Fiori/UI5 apps
• Review functional specifications and prepare technical design documents, code, unit tests, and supporting documentation
• Translate business and functional requirements into scalable, performance-optimized SAP ABAP solutions
• Collaborate with functional and technical teams to troubleshoot issues, support design/code reviews, and uphold delivery quality standards
• Participate in code optimization and adoption of modern ABAP development practices (e.g., RAP - RESTful ABAP Programming Model) where applicable
• Track assigned tasks and complete build-phase deliverables in alignment with project timelines, documentation standards, and quality processes

As the organization advances its digital transformation journey, this team plays a vital role in shaping interactions with customers, suppliers, and stakeholders – integrating strategy, operational improvement, implementation, and managed services to drive innovation and deliver sustainable, high-impact results

Qualification & Experience:

• 3–4 years of hands-on SAP ABAP development experience, including exposure to S/4HANA environments
• Strong understanding of SAP solution architecture and how ABAP development fits into broader business processes; able to independently solve moderately complex technical problems
• Working knowledge of ABAP on HANA concepts - CDS Views, AMDP, and performance-optimized code-pushdown techniques
• Experience developing reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, forms, and workflows (RICEFW) in SAP
• Hands-on experience with ALV reports, file-based interfaces, User Exits, Customer Exits, BAdIs (Business Add-Ins), SAP script, Smart Forms, BDC (Batch Data Communication), and BAPIs (Business Application Programming Interfaces)
• Exposure to OData service development and basic understanding of Fiori/UI5 integration points is a plus
• Experience on at least 2 full-cycle SAP implementation or support projects
• Proficiency using ABAP Development Tools (ADT) in Eclipse
• Experience writing technical specification documents, unit test documentation, and delivery artifacts
• Ability to translate functional specifications into robust technical solutions across SAP process areas
• Ability to investigate and resolve production issues effectively
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, Technology, Computer Applications, Computer Science, or an equivalent qualification from an accredited university

Domain Knowledge:

• Experience with RAP (RESTful ABAP Programming Model) or Embedded Analytics
• Working knowledge of IDocs, ALE (Application Link Enabling), BTEs (Business Transaction Events), Adobe Forms, or LSMW (Legacy System Migration Workbench)
• Exposure to Git-based version control and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., abapGit, gCTS) for ABAP development
• Basic understanding of SAP BTP (Business Technology Platform) extensibility concepts
• Experience participating in peer reviews and documentation quality review processes
