Job summary

Dr.Kamakshi Memorial Hospital in Chennai seeks an experienced Senior Consultant Pathologist to lead and oversee a multispecialty laboratory. You will interpret histopathology, cytopathology, hematology and clinical pathology reports, mentor staff, and ensure quality standards.

You will coordinate with clinicians for complex cases, maintain equipment, and drive CAPA and QA initiatives. Registration with NMC/State Council is required; 10+ years of post-MD/DNB experience preferred.

Qualifications

• MBBS with MD/DNB in Pathology; registration with NMC or State Medical Council.
• Minimum 10+ years post-MD/DNB experience as Consultant/Senior Consultant Pathologist in multispecialty hospital or accredited diagnostic lab.

Responsibilities

• Examine, interpret, and report histopathology, cytopathology, hematology, and clinical pathology specimens.
• Correlate laboratory findings with clinical information and provide diagnostic opinions.
• Review and validate laboratory reports before release.
• Supervise day-to-day laboratory operations and ensure timely reporting.
• Guide and mentor junior pathologists, residents, and laboratory personnel.
• Ensure compliance with NABL, NABH, and statutory quality standards.
• Participate in quality assurance, IQC, and EQAS programs.
• Maintain laboratory quality indicators and implement CAPA.
• Coordinate with clinicians for complex cases and multidisciplinary discussions.
• Ensure proper maintenance, calibration, and validation of laboratory equipment.
• Monitor laboratory safety, infection control, and biomedical waste management practices.
• Participate in hospital committees, CMEs, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Develop and update laboratory SOPs, protocols, and policies.
• Ensure accurate documentation and maintenance of laboratory records.
• Assist in introducing new diagnostic techniques and laboratory services.
• Perform any other responsibilities assigned by Medical Director or Hospital Management.

Job Specification

• Qualification MBBS with MD/DNB in Pathology.
• Registration Valid National Medical Commission (NMC) / State Medical Council Registration.
• Experience Minimum 10+ years of post-MD/DNB experience as a Consultant/Senior Consultant Pathologist in a multispecialty hospital or accredited diagnostic laboratory.
