Job Purpose:
To lead and manage the complete execution of Data Centre construction projectsincluding civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and utility packages-ensuring timely completion, adherence to safety, quality, and budget, and alignment with project objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Execution & Management
- Lead the construction execution of the Data Centre (Planning, Core & Shell, MEP etc).
- Ensure execution as per approved drawings, specifications, and schedule.
- Coordinate multi-disciplinary activities (civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation).
- Drive adherence to EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) and quality standards at site.
- Ensure availability and effective utilization of manpower, machinery, and materials.
2. Planning & Progress Monitoring
- Collaborate with the planning team to develop and track detailed project schedules (Primavera / MSP).
- Review progress periodically against baseline schedules and initiate corrective actions for delays.
- Monitor and control daily, weekly, and monthly progress.
- Review S-curves, productivity reports, and resource utilization charts.
3. Contract & Vendor Management
- Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and consultants to ensure seamless execution.
- Review and certify subcontractor bills and progress claims.
- Manage contractual obligations, variations, and change orders in coordination with the contracts team.
4. Coordination & Communication
- Serve as the single point of contact between client, consultants, and internal project teams.
- Participate in project review meetings with top management and clients.
- Ensure smooth coordination between engineering, procurement, and site execution functions.
5. Quality & Safety Management
- Enforce strict compliance with quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) standards.
- Ensure all safety procedures and statutory compliances are implemented on site.
- Drive zero-incident safety culture and continuous improvement initiatives.
6. Budget & Cost Control
- Monitor project costs, productivity, and resource efficiency.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising on quality or timelines.
- Support finance and cost control teams in budget forecasting and cash flow management.
7. Leadership & Team Management
- Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers, supervisors, and contractors.
- Coach and mentor junior team members for performance and skill development.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and performance-driven culture.
Key Deliverables:
- On-time and within-budget completion of assigned packages / project phase.
- Compliance with quality, safety, and statutory standards.
- Updated progress reports and dashboards.
- Subcontractor and vendor performance reports.
- Handing over of completed facilities to commissioning teams.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
- B.E. / B.Tech in Civil (Mandatory).
- M.Tech / MBA (Project Management) preferred.
Experience:
- 15-20 years of experience in execution of large-scale infra or heavy industrial projects.
- Experience with EPC / turnkey execution will be a strong advantage.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, equipment, and industrial safety standards.
- Familiar with EPC project lifecycle and inter-discipline coordination.
- Proficiency in MS Project / Primavera and other project monitoring tools.
- Understanding of contract management, QA/QC, and project documentation.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Strong analytical and decision-making ability.
- High level of accountability and result orientation.
- Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic project environment.
