Job summary

BMW TechWorks is seeking an experienced Concept Engineer for Upper Body Integration in Pune. You will lead vehicle-level architecture and packaging, balancing design intent with technical feasibility and manufacturing constraints, coordinating across styling and engineering teams.

With 8–15 years in vehicle integration, expert CATIA skills, and strong collaboration, you will drive 3D concepts, master sections, and cross-functional validation for front/rear sub-concepts, interiors and exteriors.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of vehicle-level architecture balancing design intent, feasibility, and manufacturing constraints.
• Facilitate convergence between styling, engineering, and regulatory requirements.
• Define and manage vehicle packaging, system interfaces, and layout strategies.
• Develop and integrate front-end systems such as crash structures, cooling modules, lighting, sensors.
• Lead rear-end architecture including tailgate, bumper, lighting, crash structures, cargo space packaging.
• Ensure compliance with crash safety, aerodynamics, and regulatory standards.
• Coordinate integration of interior systems with ergonomic and aesthetic goals.
• Oversee exterior systems ensuring styling and functional alignment.
• Support NVH, thermal comfort, and user interface validation.
• Execute 3D concepts and sections and coordinate Master sections.
• Define ergonomic parameters including seating posture, reach zones, visibility.
• Collaborate with HMI and UX teams for intuitive user interaction.
• Create layout and master sections and dimensions.
• Excellent communication and project management skills.
• Hands-on experience on CATIA and PLM systems.

As an passenger segment (M1) vehicle integration engineer in Full Vehicle Concept & Sub-System Integration Systems team, you will play a key role in the architecture and packaging of vehicle concept for BMW's vehicles.

Overall Vehicle Concept & Design-Technic Convergence:

• Lead the development of vehicle-level architecture, balancing design intent, technical feasibility, and manufacturing constraints.
• Facilitate convergence between styling, engineering, and regulatory requirements.

Front & Rear Sub-Concept Integration:

• Develop and integrate front-end systems (e.g., crash structures, cooling modules, lighting, sensors).
• Lead rear-end architecture including tailgate, bumper, lighting, crash structures, and cargo space packaging.
• Ensure compliance with crash safety, aerodynamics, and regulatory standards.

Interior & Exterior Concept Development:

• Coordinate integration of interior systems (cockpit, seating, trims, HVAC, HMI) with ergonomic and aesthetic goals.
• Oversee exterior systems (body panels, closures, lighting, mirrors) ensuring styling and functional alignment.
• Support NVH, thermal comfort, and user interface validation.
• Execute 3D concepts and sections , as well as the preparation and coordination of Master sections.

Ergonomics & User Experience:

• Define and validate ergonomic parameters including seating posture, reach zones, visibility, and ingress/egress.
• Collaborate with HMI and UX teams to ensure intuitive and comfortable user interaction.
• Conduct ergonomic benchmarking and support physical mock-up evaluations.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Validation:

• Support packaging checks, fit & finish, and functional testing.
• Work closely with design, Attribute ,CAE, manufacturing, electrical, and testing teams to ensure seamless integration and 3D Concepts.
• Create layout and master sections and dimensions
• Excellent communication and project management skills.
• Hands-on experience on CATIA and PLM systems.
